Re: Two things I read about and learned this a.m.

Am I allowed to share a work thing?

I'm organizing a web event to showcase my client's technology roadmap. All the marketing content is my responsibility. My technical resources are swamped, so I've been doing my own research. This means reading some .NET documentation and translating it for the average business technology user (more technical than a user of MS Office)

TL;DR

I read some documentation and rewrote it so a sales guy could understand it.

That talent is priceless!  IT people seem to write so only their cohorts can understand that.

I'll have to admit, when I opened Microsoft Office, I was overwhelmed and I was a programmer!

I also could read the material and explain it to the office worker so they could get what they needed from a program without having to read it all and weed it out!

I recently came across a program on the local PBS station featuring something called "Yacht Rock".  This was a new term to me and made me curious as to its beginnings.  I came to realize that it is generally another name for 'soft rock', which I remember well.

I just learned that the country of Ireland is smaller than the borough of Brooklyn. Who knew?

I don’t think Ireland is smaller than Brooklyn. To my understanding England is approximately the size of Indiana. Ireland is just a bit smaller so I don’t think so.
