On the Equifax website there is a link to Trusted ID Premier for a one year free membership. Has anyone signed up? I am a little leery about giving all of my information .

TrustedID is owned by Equifax, the company that created this dangerous, disastrous mess. Just my opinion, but I wouldn't have any intentional additional involvement with anything associated with Equifax, a company I feel is unscrupulous and irresponsible.

Read the fine print before signing up for anyone's monitoring service. There is usually language that says they sell your info to "trusted partners" and that includes collection agencies.

Besides, if you're worried about your credit, don't you want to buy products like life insurance and home security?

Never pass up a crises that can generate revenue.

The only action I have taken at Equifax is to put a security freeze on my credit record.

I signed up - and today receved an alert. The descrption is very generic 'updated tradeline' - but it's via a bank that I stopped dealing with last year when my account was skimmed. That account number was frozen and a new one issued- which I never activated.

I looked at my credit report and everything looks okay- but I really want to know what this alert is about. The phone # is call is busy all day. And the website is hanging up every time you try to look into it further!

I bit the bullet and signed up for LifeLock. Did it through mrrebates and got an awesome rebate.

Oneyear coverage will do little good for this breach of personal ID information. Usually the outfits the purchase the info on the black market wail a while...two and more years to ever sell or use the info. It may be 5 years later that your info is used..... so giving you a year of limited protection is like putting a bandaid on a huge open wound.....it does NOTHING TO PROTECT YOU.

My husband and I just got our credit reports from all three companies then put a freeze on our credit through each one as well.

We have been doing a lot of research and what we have seen is that most of the services that these protection services offer can be done for free by the consumer.

It truly angers me that this was done by a company that none of us have any choice but to have a relationship with. And yet this happens. And the execs knew and sold their stock more than a month before they released the info.

This is criminal and I really hope will be dealt with. Not holding my breath.

I agree wholeheartedly with what you're saying. My friend and I were discussing this the other day. She made a comment that she wasn't concerned because she never signed up with Equifax!!!! Who did???? It's criminal that they never installed the security patch that was available to them six months before the hack.
