Oh, I have seen two names that have apostrophes in them. I thought that was odd. I don't understand the need to be that out there when naming a child.

Back in the day when Lyndon Johnson was President his daughter Lucy had her name legally changed to Luci. For a while there following that mothers were often naming their newborn girls with an i on the end of their names where ordinarily there would be a y..... Luci, Nanci, Sheri, Brandi, Traci etc.

Ugh. Sherry and Brandy. Two more names destined to ensure the girls will grow up to be strippers or party girls.  You might as well name your kid Vodka.

I mean no offense, but to be honest, OP, that is a name that makes me wonder whether the parents were DRINKING HEAVILY when they chose it.  It is stupid and will most likely not serve the child.

My name has maybe five spellings.  Further, my parents chose that name but then split it into my first and middle names, leaving me with a first name that I despise and do not respond to.  I had a plumber a number of years ago who pulled a permit and started calling me by my legal first name.  I wanted to punch him.  I have had to spell my name all my life and once heard someone frantically calling out my legal name, which is not my name.  Only later did I wonder whether this person was trying to get my attention.

Parents shouldn't choose a name for a child that will always be misspelled or that is just too odd in not a nice way.  Unusual names can be pretty, but that is not always the case.

A woman in England wanted to name her daughter Cyanide recently, but a judge would not allow her to do so.

On what grounds did the judge overrule the parents?  That is scarier than the crazy parents who want to name their kid Cyanide. Who filed the suit?

Are there really people out there that do not know this is a name for a breed of horses?!

Wrong is still wrong just because you benefited from it.

Naming a baby after a breed of horse reminds me - - -  a neighbor's daughter planned to name her baby Elsie.  All I could think of was that the poor girl would forever be known as the Borden Cow.  I talked her out of it.  I hope the child will someday be grateful.

Here is the story if you are interested. I just looked it up because I was curious too. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3539801/Judges-stop-mother-s-bid-daughter-CYANIDE-s-poison-k...

Both my sibling and myself were saddled w/unusual and difficult to spell first names.

We both use only this 1st initial and our middle names today.

No one could either spell or pronounce them (in this country, anyway)

Please dont name your children names that will open them to ridicule-life is tough enough on children.
