Saying that people who are concerned are panicking is a lie. Concern is rational: the opposite of panic. You're using a rhetorical trick to not address the topic at hand. It's like calling someone "just a hater" instead of addressing their critique.

We were going to book a cruise for May but that is on hold. For many of us without health concerns, the bigger issue is the idea of being stuck away from home for 2-4 weeks, maybe longer. I cannot be out of work that long. My life would descend into chaos. So we're not taking the risk. Especially with the second Princess cruise in limbo off of CA. I could not handle that stress of being stuck in a cruise cabin, even a nice one, indefinitely. It seems to me the cruise lines don't have a real plan in place for dealing with these situations. It seems like they just don't really know what to do. I can wait till this situation is under better control before I plan my next trip. I lot of companies are banning their employees from travel right now and saying if you do travel, you will have to self quarantine for 2 weeks WITHOUT PAY! No thanks to that.

Driving to a cottage for a traditional Great Lakes vacay this summer. Probably the best idea for this year. Then a few days in CT this fall for a wedding. Will fly or drive if we have to. The more details we keep under our control this year the better.

I can't imagine being trapped on a ship.

As of a few hours ago, Royal Caribbean announced that anyone who has a cruise planned through mid-July can cancel that cruise up to 48 hours prior to the cruise and they will receive a full credit for a future cruise.

Carnival is doing the same but only for cruises through May and they are issuing substantial on board credit for those who choose to keep their current sailing.

We are still 50+ days out so I will see how things progress before making a decision. As someone said, the decision may be made for us. It does make me feel better to know RCL put this policy in place.

I would fly but I wouldn't risk a cruise. A cruise is a crapshoot even on a good day.

No, I’m not changing any of my plans. I’m currently on a trip to one of the Florida gulf coast barrier islands, and the place is packed. Lodging is sold out, restaurant lines are long and stores are crowded.

I have several other trips planned for the year and have no plans to change them. However; were I elderly, infirm, immunocompromised or battling a chronic illness I might reconsider. But I’m not, so for me the risk is minimal and acceptable.

I used to live in Woodinville and still drive over to Molbak's quite often. I'm in the next city over from you.

We drove past Sun City today on our way to lunch. It's getting hot here.

In the CA case, the cruise line does not have a choice. The CA governor will not let the ship dock - which I can't understand as leaving these people on the ship essentially guarantees more will get sick and some will die. Why can't they be quarantined, tested and treated. Testing them on the ship means nothing for those currently negative anyway.
