@wagirl   My daughter and I and her little children had a trip planned to Disney in May.  We originally thought we would just go and not cancel....but the more we thought about it, it is just not worth the risk.  I have to agree...we really don't have enough information to make a decision that could have terrible consequences.  Disney World isn't going anywhere soon so I'm glad we are putting plans on hold.

@KKlim-----I live near ground zero---in WA state--in fact that nursing home and hospital are 15 minutes away from me.  I go to that hospital for everything--all my drs are there,so I am a little more concerned than normal--and am 65 but healthy----- I listen to the local health experts here and not from the idiots back east especially the one that has a "hunch" all this is not a big deal---- I guess until one of them gets sick---then maybe they will change their tune-----

We might be neighbors, @wagirl.  We are trying to decide whether we will stay in AZ for another month or head home.  I can't recall seeing that nursing home before.

Re: Travel/vacation plans

[ Edited ]

Our next cruise is scheduled for the weekend after Easter.  Decided today that we are going to wait until 10 days out to see if we need to cancel.

I have really severe spring/summer/fall allergies and I'm a bit anxious that I won't find enough tissues on the store shelves.

It is not a cold and it is not the flu. Stop spreading misinformation, people. Even people who recover may have lasting damage to their lungs. (I'm not going to post what I read last night that has me so concerned. There's a study in the American Journal of Roentgenology (AJR) you can look into if you like. I had to look up Roentgenology to make sure it wasn't some crank thing. It's just radiology.)

If you have to travel, of course, do what you need to do. But if you have flexibility, avoid places with poor health systems and locations with confirmed cases.

@crazered Disney is pretty trustworthy about safety. They'll shut the park if it's not safe. So it's right not to worry. Worry is always a waste of time and mental energy. But it's wrong to blow this off.

Love it when I see people who are elderly and immunosuppressed say they plan to get into a cramped, crowded plane and travel when a virus that we don't know a great deal about is out there. Great idea.

@RetRN

Right now staying home where I live is not a great idea, the first case in Westchester county, NY  is less than a mile from many diagnoised cases, so I think I am safer traveling

I am sorry if you feel the way you do, panic like you are spreading will do nothing for anyone

Saying that people who are concerned are panicking is a lie. Concern is rational: the opposite of panic. You're using a rhetorical trick to not address the topic at hand. It's like calling someone "just a hater" instead of addressing their critique.

If it becomes worse, as all doctors expect it to, I'm guessing the airlines will close down for the most part making the decisions for frivolous vacations. I'm amazed at the ppl who cannot or will not read. Takes all kinds!

@I am still oxox... your right in the hotbed of activity right now as Westchester is just growing w/ cases. Your right and probably better off getting out and traveling somewhere else!
