Due to our advanced age and compromised immune systems, our physician recommended a 'staycation'.  We plan on investing in some home improvements so that we can enjoy our time right here.

Your husband is right, this isn't the Plague.  It's a flu virus and the vast majority of us just have to be smart and be meticulous about hand hygiene.  Of course, the elderly and those who have respiratory diseases have to take additional precautions.  People can get them from their doctors or from the CDC website.  Last night my friend was concerned because her 74 year old mother is going to Italy in July, as she always does.  She came here almost 50 years ago as a young bride and except for a the years when she was pregnant or nursing, she has spent the month of July in Italy with her family.  She's strong, healthy, smart.  So, she sees no reason not to go this year.  I tend to agree with her.  Our friends from London arrive here the end of April and we'll all be vacationing in Newport RI in May.  We are in the thinking stage about a Fall vacation.  We have not ruled Europe out, with the cancellation , we might see some good deals.

@wagirl and shelbelle..I completely agree w/ the 2 of u. I was surprised to read some replies. No traveling for me at this point. I’ve gotten leery the past few days about just going into my office building where there is a lot of outside guests in and out of the building. I guess it depends on where u live at this point. I am in a nyc suburb and it’s steadily gaining strength here little by little !

No travel plans but 1 child had their college semester overseas cancelled (multiple colleges in my state have cancelled all overseas travel for planned student trips), husband has had 2 business trips cancelled by his firm (they will do them via skype instead) and another child has had a trip cancelled as the couple called off their wedding due to the location being hard hit by the virus.

I have plans the end of the month to fly to Ft. Lauderdale.  I'm not afraid of being there but I am anxious about being in the airport & plane....not sure what I'm going to do yet.

I also have plans to fly to Madrid in June...that's up in the air as well.

Yes, we are going on a cruise in a week and also flying to the cruise port.  Trying to live a normal life with all the necessary precautions but not going to quit living.

@KKlim-----I live near ground zero---in WA state--in fact that nursing home and hospital are 15 minutes away from me.  I go to that hospital for everything--all my drs are there,so I am a little more concerned than normal--and am 65 but healthy----- I listen to the local health experts here and not from the idiots back east especially the one that has a "hunch" all this is not a big deal---- I guess until one of them gets sick---then maybe they will change their tune-----

So sad for the passengers on the cruise ship outside of CA.   Refusing entry to the U.S. and quarantine and treatment (for U.S. citizens yet) is consigning them to illness and possible death.  I am appalled.

Even when we wouldn't let flights come, we evacuated American citizens to come home for treatment.

It is not only the elderly and people with respiratory issues who need to be more careful.  It is ALL people with a compromised immune system that needs to be careful including those with diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, cancer, asthma, pregnant women and on and on.  There is a long list of exactly who is considered to have a compromised immune system.

As of right now, I have no plans to change my vacation.  We will be in Nashville in a couple of weeks and we are leaving for a cruise at the end of April.  I will keep up with any recommendations from CDC or WHO.  It's my understanding the VP is meeting with various cruiseline big wigs tomorrow to discuss what is going on.

No; still going to the Ukraine and Romania in June. I wouldn't go anywhere if I canceled my plans every time something like this was going on.

Enjoy your trip to Disney World!
