I have the same service in WA that @SeaMaiden does.  The garbage can is quite small and extra trash is frowned upon.  No yard waste.

In AZ the trash is picked up twice a week, up to ten bags!  Recycling is every other week.  It is quite a bit less expensive.  Sorry but I can't remember what it costs.

@tansy     waste management offers several sizes of garbage cans. I have the medium size, some of my neighbors have a real small one... Then there is a large size too.

I pay $98 quarterly for weekly trash and recycle, two large carts.  They will also haul away one large item a week, included in the price.  In addition to that I pay arount $110 a year for yard waste and can put that out weekly also.  There are quite a few companies that offer these services so competition is keen - when one tries to raise the rates people just go to another company.  Most give a discount for seniors and tho I am one I chose to keep the large carts since my granddaughter and great grandson live with me, hence more trash lol.

My recycling garbage is picked up every two weeks.  We have very large containers that hold a lot of stuff.  The plastics, glass and cans take forever to fill the container.  The paper, boxes, etc...that can fills much faster, even if you break down the boxes.

I pay for the service through my very, very high taxes.  Regular garbage I still have to pay for extra.

@SeaMaiden  As I mentioned, they aren't doing that for now due to CV19 around here.  I hope it comes back at some point because I've not been able to find anybody who is still taking them.  Smiley Sad

@chickenbutt   Never heard of them not collecting plastic bags? What state?I live in WA State

I'm in NV.   It's weird and it didn't get this way until the virus.   I sure hope I can find a place to recycle them because I'm not going to throw them in the trash.  It's odd to me that you cannot put them in the Waste Management recycling can.  They are very specific as to what you can put in there.

We have the large WM can (trash) and I've talked to the husband about getting the medium size one, as I think that's large enough and it would save some money, but haven't gotten him on board yet.
