A local CBS station ran a story about a shortage of toys for Christmas. The global supply chain is going to cause a toy shortage. My thought is if you have little ones who expect a toy from you, buy a classic to have on hand. A Tonka truck, a Hotwheels set, a baby doll, Barbie, board games, etc. could be purchased now and held for an emergency Christmas gift. If you later can find the specific hard to locate "hot toy" for the season and don't need the emergency backup, donate it to Toys for Tots or a similar toy drive. I am concerned that these toy drives may suffer this season.

@On It    Good idea!  I've heard several stories about possible toy shortages.

@On It   It would be nice if folks would support toy drives anyway and not just because they bought toys but then no longer need them..

Toy drives may suffer not just from toy shortages.

@Cakers3 I agree that we need to help these charities as much as possible. I usually donate gifts for older children since gifts for them are often in short supply. Cash donations are used to fill in the gaps, but there may not be much selection if the shortage happens. If we all have these additional emergency gifts on hand then maybe their donation will help pick up the slack.

Our grandson asked for specific LEGO sets for his fall birthday and Christmas.  I bought them last month from Amazon, as soon as I saw them on his wish list and texted back and forth with my daughter in law. So, he's all done.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

@On It   So true.  Our corporate office does it every year, but last year I know our drive suffered a bit, due to a large group was still working remotely and didn’t participate, and I know they didn’t get what they normally receive for the drive.  Not saying they didn’t donate other ways.......

I hope many know how blessed we truly are, and can donate if they can.  Whether a toy drive, food drive, school supply drive or an angel tree.  It warms my heart to help.  Every bit helps.

I know many of us are purgers and have WAY too much stuff.  And many don’t have enough to make ends meet.

We wore out Candy Land, Checkers, and Monopoly!

My 2 Grands turn 9 and 11 on Jan 7 th and I'm seriously thinking about making a large part of either their Christmas or Birthday gift Amazon gift cards ( they are old enough to appreciate shopping for themselves).

There's probably no one here old enough to remember WW2 -- no toys, no decorations...NO NADA

I was surprised that our city's Big Give Fund Drive that just ended yesterday, 9/24/21 did as well as it did, and even exceeded past goals, but sadly some charities that really help families during Christmas time did not meet their individual target goal......I think Im going to try to donate some extra toys this year.....
