I am sure Toys for Tots and similar toy drives would appreciate any new toy donation, whether it's considered a "hot toy" or not. What's hot to one child may not be so to another. All depends upon how many toy commercials they see. They really push all sorts of junk on the kids' channels.

Our church has a toy drive each year and I love picking out toys for different age groups. They now do an angel tree-type setup that helps, so there are a few wants that you can look for. I have found  soccer balls, jewelry boxes, and Barbies seem to be faves.

It is super easy to buy toys on Amazon. The sad part is how much people overspend on Amazon. You can find the exact same toy with vastly different prices you just have to comparison shop like you would do in a mall..sounds like toy drives need to start sooner if there really may be a shortage.

Thank you for pointing this out @On It . Toys for Tots is something I am passionate about. I typically wouldn't have thought about purchasing toys/games this soon. However your post prompted me to start my purchasing!

@Desertdi   OH yes, I remember it well.  No rubber, plastics or metal.  Dad managed to find a second hand tricycle for me, fixed it up very jazzy, painted it, I was thrilled.  He was hit by a drunk driver and had tires ruined.  I asked Santa for 2 new tires for Christmas for my daddy.  He got a couple (used) somewhere.  We had a hammer, some nails and a few boards.  We made toys. We had a collie puppy.

@Kachina624   I remember painting walnuts for "decorations" and making paper chains for the tree.....and my ma and all the relatives trading ration coupons for food, shoes, gasoline,  etc.

We lived near the lake in Chicago, and had blackout shades on the windows.    And NOW, people are squealing about slow deliveries(?)   di

@Desertdi   ..... And wearing a stupid mask.  During WWII, if we'd had people of the mentality of those we have now, we would have lost the war.
