From all the news reports, it looks like they might not make it. It’s a shame to see another large retailer in trouble.
I don’t have any, but if I had a Toys R Us gift card, I’d be using it, sooner rather than later.

Very sad, my daughter had a gift card and used it yesterday.

No loss.... Everyone already buys toys and kids stuff from Amazon.com. Don't feel sorry for them, poor management. They should created and built up and online store, years ago. Amazon swooped in and took over the toy business while and they didn't see it happening until it was too late.

It’s a huge loss. I personally hate to see people lose their jobs. Probably thousands nationwide. And the effect it will have on their suppliers and the employees at those companies.

What I will miss if all the TRU stores close is the shear joy my grandkids have just wandering around looking for the perfect toy.

Yep. I ordered all of my two nephews and niece Christmas presents from amazon. Most of the time I order their birthday presents from them also. I get cheaper prices and free shipping.

I wish I could quadruple heart your post....Yes, the loss of jobs is very concerning. These types of events have many, many repercussions that not everyone seems to understand or care about.
Thank you for your post.

@chrystaltreeAll true - and equally important seems to be that the toy business that once was is really not there as it was. Many fewer toys and games overall being sold - unless you count the "toy" technology items where the major money is headed even for the little ones.
I personally won't miss Toys R Us, but there did seem to be cars in front of their store near me every day, so someone will. In the meantime I might go look for clearance sale on jigsaw puzzles - I like to have a couple in the house. Better rainy day fun than shopping, for me.

It will have absolutely no affect on the toy manufacturers because whatever business they lose from Toys R Us will be picked up by Amazon and Target and Walmart. Yes, Toys R Us employees will lose jobs but that's how our economy works. There have always and will always be layoffs. Those workers will find jobs in other areas and hopefully some will see the handwriting on the wall and go back to school to acquire an education and skill set in the jobs of tomorrow. Retail is the past. Brick&mortar retail is the past. There's no future in it.

This absolutely breaks my heart.
They were once the mecca for toy-buying in my mid-Atlantic state location.
(Okay, I've always been below the Mason-Dixon line, but my family's mindset has always made us feel more Eastern than Southern.)
