I think technology though is only ONE part.......we still need people in Real Estate, Construction, Restaurant business, service industry, car repair, etc etc etc.
A lot can be learned with on the job training, working your way up.

Unfortunately, I know many young people who are college grads and are in jobs that really do not require a degree. I know one person who said he will be 70 years old before he pays off his college loans. I thought he was kidding!

I agree.
Education should always be the first choice for those who can do it. College or trade.
It is a fact that college graduates will earn more than those without a degree over their lifetime. Most entry level positions in office work require a degree now. The days of financial success without education are pretty much over.

Don't forget about 2 year degrees from vocational or tech schools. Some tech programs are only 6-9 months long and provide the students with excellent skills in their field of interest. Everyone is not college bound, but a high school diploma isn't enough for most people to get a good, satisfying job. Don't settle for just any employment, get an education in an area you are already interested in and pursue education to help you become more employable.
