A few years ago when a grand nephew dropped out of college after 2 years, there was concern to say the least. His parents were supportive as long as he went to look for work. He did - and found a position with Wegman's which turns out to be a wonderful employer as well as a great place to shop.

I wish, I wish, we had a Wegman's in the Bay Area {#emotions_dlg.sad}

having worked for The Home Depot, I can tell you this.............IF you have a degree, you're paid more from the start and placed in a specialty field.........no degree means lower pay, and placement is in the aisles, receiving, the lot, or garden.....can you move up without a degree?.......sure, but not as quickly as those with a degree............................raven

The last time we were shopping at Costco, I commented to my husband that it looked as though most employees at our local store were over at least 30 years of age. Maybe the younger employees are scheduled during the evening hours.

I've noticed that, too. Maybe the younger ones start by stacking the shelves or moving product. Now that I think of it, they seem younger in the fast food for sale area. Geez, what would you call that? Certainly not a restaurant {#emotions_dlg.w00t}

Maybe a 'lunch counter' since the diners can sit at picnic tables.

I think they are referring to Costco's food court.

What about MLB & NBA? Hitmen make really good money too. And they set their own schedules. Crab fishermen make their annual income in about three months.

Re: Top 10 Companies To Work For Without A College Degree

I was just in Costco today. They were refunding me at the customer service counter for two jars of recalled Almond Butter I had purchased . . . one for me a few months ago . . . and one for daughter a month ago @ different Costco near her college town . . . got the letter in the mail . . .they said at the store I'd probably eventually get a phone call too.

I told the girl, I just LOVE Costco, y'all are my favorite store . . . so much that I even purchased some of the Costco stock last month too!

Great company.

I'd tend to agree with 9 out of the 10 choices. Only one . . . not so much . . . but I do buy their kcups . . . would be Starbucks.

Costco is very supportive of the local schools in their community. They are always donating either money, products, or even their employees and their time to attend a special event along with their cakes and employees to cut & serve it too!

{#emotions_dlg.thumbup1} I wish they'd serve coffee. I wonder what went into making that decision? All I can think of is that people linger over coffee, but they linger anyway at those tables.
