Re: Tooth Fairy vs. Inflation

@Kachina624   I do not remember, but I'm sure I would have gotten a coin, not any paper money.  A quarter could have given me 8 visits to the local creamery where each time I could have gotten a large chocolate malted ice cream cone for 3 cents.  Makes me think my reward would have been a nickel.

Who do you suppose the snoop was that went around looking under pillows, counted money and came up with the $6.71, average?  Sounds like something strange going on to me.

I love the responses here.

Re: Tooth Fairy vs. Inflation

My granddaughter got a $20 bill when she lost her first tooth. Her daddy had no change when she lost her tooth late at night before bedtime....and he didn't want to go out to get change. I told him he had certainly set a high bar....he told her the $20 is what you get for the first tooth....after that it would be less.  He had to pony up when the next two kids lost their first...the first granddaughter told them about the $20 so ol' dad had pressure!

A nickel from my mom, but I stayed with my grandma on weekends so I used it again....and always got a dime from her!

Re: Tooth Fairy vs. Inflation

I think I got a quarter too!!

Let's talk about babysitting.  (I'm talking about watching elementary aged kids). I can remember when I was a young teen getting 50 cents an hour.  My DD was given $10.00 an hour when she was a teen by a neighbor and that was twenty years ago!

Wonder what the going rate is now?

@Kachina624

I never lost any of my teeth, I found every one of them after they came out. There was no tooth fairy or boogeyman in our apartment. Sorry, can't relate to the COL in that respect.

@hckynutjohn    Did you not lose them from your mouth or are they still there?

I think I swallowed my first one!  Never remember retrieving it.  LOL
