For QVC this was a business decision.  These two are close to the highest paid due to seniority.  They aren't your "friends" they are people hired to get you to buy stuff.  Everyone is replaceable.  My suggestion is to show your anger by not shopping here.  Such an easy solution and will get the Q's attention as sales go down.  My personal opinion is they handled this very poorly.  If I were Rick, JT, Mary Beth, and Pat, I'd be looking over my shoulder all the time.

Just want to point out that unless one is privy to someone's contract it's just speculation as to what one is/was paid in a negotiated contract.

You are correct, these salespeople are not your friends. I don't know why you would stop shopping. Everyday people are let go. If you shop in a regular store and a salesperson was let go would you not go in that store anymore? I think some people get too attached to people they do not know. People this was a job, nothing more.

@Etoile308

Excellent point.  We do not know.....it didn't seem like Dan H was on a lot...

often contracts are based up number of appearances...maybe some hosts are PT.....who knows!

We have new guys hired at higher rates than our guys that have been with us for a long time.

Why?  Because otherwise, we can't get employees!

I don't like that...but here we are these days.

@brandiwine Where did you get the info on what they are paid? Nowhere. Nothiing but speculation on your part.

@brandiwine   Your arguments and other like ones posted here remind me of a certain man who always said as he fired people on his show: "it's not personal, it's business."  And we all know about his ethics, don't we?

Those making decisions are looking at cost benefit. My guess, Carolyn's sales compared to her salary justified letting her go, but just like their decision to eliminate the forums, they didn't consider the emotional factor.

For some, Carolyn and Gary were like a favorite TV show they enjoyed. They identified with the pets and the gardening.

Not everyone has an active life, some are virtually house bound. For them those on the Q are friends, so the outrage was to be expected, but apparently not by those making the decisions.

Absolutely, yes! Some on here will say that they're not your friends or family, so basically get over it. But I agree with you, that for many, customers feel a camaraderie with certain hosts. They get used to, and look forward to seeing them. So yes, they're outrage is expected.

The less people shop here the lower sales will go and possibly more people will be laid-off, contributing to the very thing you are angry about.

I don't watch TV but occasionally watch a previously recorded video on the websites....more interested in seeing how the clothing looks on the models/item works then on what the host is saying.
