We need a change of subject...

So how much did you get as a kid for a lost tooth?  As I can best recall, I got a quarter, 25¢.

I just heard a report that inflation has hit the tooth fairy like everyone else.  Kids seem to know about inflation, are demanding more of her so she is now anteing up an average of $6.71.

Wow!  Pretty soon they'll be able to retire before they finish elementary school.

Re: Tooth Fairy vs. Inflation

I never got more than a .25 cents during the late 60's early 70's and I never gave my son more than a $1.00 during the late 80's early 90's.  My DDIL only gives my grandchildren a $1.00 as well.

I always got a dime.

My children got $1.

I remember a time when the tooth fairy was broke.  She left nickels and dimes totaling  a dollar under my daughter's pillow.  The next morning, the change was all over the bed and on the floor.  The poor kid had to work hard to find her cash.

Re: Tooth Fairy vs. Inflation

As a kid, I mostly got a dime, maybe a quarter for a front tooth.

As an adult, I had a back molar pulled, and asked the dentist to "wrap it up". (She did look kinda amused.)     Then I asked my husband if the tooth fairy was gonna leave me something.   He never heard of said fairy....and asked me what the going rate was.    I told him TWENTY FIVE BUCKS.
