I've stated in other threads how I felt about this racing incident. What I heard is they had many witnesses, some of which were drivers some of which were spectators, and I think I heard them say the Grand Jury questioned them. Not really sure about that part.
As far as I am concerned the criminal part of this incident is over and whatever people choose to say from this point on? It is only their opinion and we all know everybody has one, I think!

But the guy under the wheel? They tested his blood.
I don't know that this is federal, but I do know that many counties around the USA, do autopsies when there are certain types of deaths. Thinking an incident like this one is the reason.
Would it have made some feel better if they check Tony's blood levels? I am sure it would, but I doubt that is the protocol in that area. When someone is murdered they do an autopsy to find the cause of death, and along with that the do blood workups. It would be nice if they could do a blood test on the murderer, but?

Thanks again. If I were a driver in a car accident that killed someone, I'm sure I'd be tested as a matter course. Hopefully, I will never find out firsthand
Hi tansy,
When was the last time you drove a race car on a dirt track and at night? Unfortunately that is why there are many "hit and run"(I won't call them accidents because if a person is drunk or high, it is an on-purpose). The driver knows that they will be tested and if so, things are not going to turn out well.
Ah! I can just picture you now sitting in a Sprint Car driving oh so fast on a dirt track, and under questionable lighting. Hair blowing in the wind, nope not with the helmet on, forget that part.
Hey, you are a good driver and I doubt that you "sniff and drive/drink and drive", so I ain't gonna worry about ya.

No driving for me for a bit, John. I just had my knee replaced last week and am still on the good pain meds. Now I have two phony knees and a shoulder. Might try new hips next :-)

If this family sued Tony and I was on the jury - no way I would award them anything. I saw the video and IMO - the fault here was all on the young man who died.

Absolutely. I doubt they will go forward with a suit unless they are hoping to be paid off in a settlement before court. If they do, I was just reading, Kevin will be under even more scrutiny and could tarnish what is left of his reputation after the drug screen came out.
The grand jury looked at videos frame by frame with "grids" etc. and scientific scrutiny.
IMO they will NOT be able to overcome the fact that he walked onto the middle of the track during the race. The race was not under a "stop".
My sympathies to the family because it is natural to want to blame someone in a death like this. Perhaps their grief would be better channeled in trying to find ways to improve racing safety, or scholarships for young people. Something positive.

Yeah, you would think they would automatically test a driver who just killed someone.

So they do no drug testing before these race drivers go on the course and drive a 100 miles an hour??? Why was this guy allowed to drive high on POT?? He put all the drivers at risk. Shame on him... he got what he got. I would wish death on no one. But, to drive high is just dumb.

It was the right decision. I'm sure that Ward's family and friends think otherwise and that's understandable. I think the fact that Ward was under the influence helps explain his irresponsible behavior and it might put a crimp in any civil suit. If he hadn't been on the track acting like a fool....he'd be alive today.

The Ward family has hinted they may file a civil suit against Tony Stewart. I don't see how they would be able to obtain a financial settlement in view of the fact Tony was found innocent of all charges by a grand jury. I'm sorry for the Ward family. They lost a beloved son, and this is hard to accept, and they want to blame somebody, anybody except Kevin. However, had Kevin not left his car, and now we learn under the influence of marijuana, he would be alive today.
