@ScrapHappy They were "like" plastic or were plastic?

I checked my Home Depot account and found I purchased that one January 2020 and paid $17.95 for it. Home Depot has one in stock. I was expecting it would be about $22. It's $32.95! That's some kind of crazy inflation.
We replaced all the commodes in the house a couple of years ago. Our handyman recommended that we upgrade all the plastic nuts, bolts and hinges with metal ones. It was one of those..."okay we will" moments that never came to be. Now just trying to find the darned things is not easy. Kicking myself.

And there are some things that you really wouldn't want to do without - like a darned toilet seat!
Besides food items that have increased, I haven't had to buy any "oddities" lately (except new windows, which are a necessity and I think I'm getting a good deal and a great install), though I find that I am on the look out for things I might need down the road, and when I see them I buy them. I have a box full of extra night lights and three prong plug adapters.
We have the "soft close" seats by Toto. Nice idea - just tap on the seat or cover and it slowly closes with no thud but sometimes you just need the seat closed and I'm not that patient but I don't want to break the mechanism. Especially not now.
You practically have to call a plumber to fix some of these. Gone are the days when I could just add a paperclip to the chain and the problem was solved.

The thing that I was actually shocked about a price increase was a spray can of Lysol---it was nearly $11!!!! I think I paid under $5 for it--I don't use it much and never did during the pandemic---so had a couple cans laying around--but that really shocked me!!

The ones I purchased feel heavy in weight. Feels sturdy. The less expensive ones were very light in weight, not sturdy at all. Didn't think the light weight ones would be a good choice, especially for the door(s) that lead outside.

Count me among those who thought we were going to discuss blow-up toilet seats.

We just had to get a new toilet seat a couple weeks ago. I thought it would be like under $20. It was about $45!!!! And it was just a basic seat! Sheesh! Don't get me started on the price of things now!!!
