Today's random question- has anyone here never seen the ocean?

My sister and I were talking yesterday at lunch. We grew up outside of Boston, so the ocean was just always there for us. We don't remember the first time we saw it. We don't remember an "aha moment" when we first went to the beach.

We were talking about moments and places that emotionally moved us (Grand Canyon was one for me. We were in the car, rounded the corner, there it was and it was so overwhelmingly beautiful to me that I cried). So I was just wondering- has anyone here never seen the ocean? It doesn't matter if you haven't- plenty of things I haven't seen. I'm just curious.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

Yep- no reason to be sad about it. As I said, plenty of things I haven't seen. It's just how life goes.

I can't imagine being landlocked. We live ten minutes from the ocean. We swim, fish, boat, snorkel.

Growing up in AZ I was around 15 when I first saw the ocean near San Diego. Then lived most of my adult life near San Francisco, so it was "there" to see anytime. Now that we are retired and I'm back in AZ, I do miss being able to see it often.

There is nothing to compare to the beauty of the ocean. I'm 4 hours from the nearest one but I crave seeing it all the time. It's where I find total and complete peace.

I just thought about this some more LOL..............where I live, I can see the mountains and don't think I could live anyplace where I couldn't look out my window and see mountains.......I only live an hour and a half from the ocean............I look out my window and see the mountains..........I live in the most PERFECT place on the planet {#emotions_dlg.w00t}{#emotions_dlg.lol}.............if you don't mind the heat and the cold...............we don't have warm and cool..........just HOT and COLD.............................raven

Yep.....and sometimes I take it for granted. I live on Long Island....surrounded by water...Atlantic Ocean on one side and the Long Island Sound on the other. Sometimes I forget how lucky I am.

I've been the the Caribbean too.......gorgeous!!!

I know how you feel when you saw the Grand Canyon. I know it's not the same thing but I felt the same way when I went to the Norman Rockwell (one of my fav artists) museum in Rockwell, MA......I literally got all choked up seeing his work closeup and personal.
