I was just there yesterday visiting my daughter who lives on LBI (Jersey shore), granddaughters, and my other two daughters who live up here and who have been going down every weekend. The beach was phenomenal, we saw dolphins (they love this part of the shore for some reason, they are there every day). This was the sixth gorgeous weekend in a row. I get such a sense of peace and relaxation on the beach. We had three umbrellas up and several beach blankets. Of course I was covered from head to toe, just took my shoes off so I could wiggle my toes in the sand. My daughter's part of the beach is never crowded, so we feel as if we are the only ones there. We stay away from the lifeguard area because that's where everyone goes.

I enjoy the mountains too (up in Sussex County, NJ, which some of you may not think of as "mountains," but "hills." Anyway to me, they are mountains. The lakes are beautiful, but very buggy, and I don't like the idea of mosquitoes and ticks. My brother is a fisherman, so he likes the mountains better than the shore. Not the rest of us.

But nothing is like the Jersey shore to me, I have nowhere I'd rather be. My daughter made chicken breasts marinated in balsamic vinaigrette on the grill, and pepper, pineapple, cherry tomatoes, mushrooms shish kebab for dinner. We left pretty late, so we saw the sunset over the bay on our way home, which is always gorgeous.

Days like that are few and far between for me these days, so I luxuriate in them whenever I get a chance to go.

Ford, what a lovely post. It's good to hear how nicely your daughters and grandchildren take care of you and what a good time you had at the beach. I'm about to go on vacation with my family and I'm hoping for lots of good times. Take care!
