I got a speeding ticket today. Going at the speed limit takes all the fun out of driving.

On the plus side, the officer wrote that I was only going 40 in a 35 instead of the actual 54.

Yeah, hitting someone or something or causing an accident because you are going 20 mph over the limit...that could REALLY take the fun out of it too...

I have never had or caused an accident. I don't text or answer my cell while I'm driving, don't even turn it on. I leave a large space between my car and the one I'm following so if they need to make a sudden stop, I don't rear end them. I don't put make up on while I'm driving nor do I drive with children fighting in the back seat.

Speeding does not cause accidents, distractions, inexperience, and following too close does.

Speed DOES cause accidents, and you are naive to think otherwise. Just because you don't text or talk while you drive, doesn't make it okay to speed. You are bragging like you are proud that you were doing 54 in a 35 mile zone.... you deserved a bigger ticket because you clearly don't get it. 20 miles over in a local 35 mile zone???? and you think you have good judgment????

No where did I say it was local. It was 45 and dropped to 35 around a curve. I just didn't slow down around the curve.

I don't know where you get that I was proud of going 54, it's not like I was running at 54 mph, the car gets the credit for that if credit is due. I am proud of my driving record especially considering the amount I drive. Being in the NE deer and other wildlife are everywhere and I haven't run any of them down. The fact is that nearly everyone speeds including the officer who gave me the ticket.

The thread was about little annoyances and getting a ticket was mine. I got a big fine, I paid it, and will reconsider posting any personal happenings in the furture.

Speeding does not cause accidents, distractions, inexperience, and following too close does.

"Speed is involved in about one out of three fatal crashes, according to NHTSA. It is the third leading contributing factor to traffic crashes. But while injuries and fatalities due to other dangerous behaviors, such as driving while impaired and not wearing seatbelts, have been significantly reduced, speeding is still a challenge." [National Safety Council]

Involved is not the same as cause. Of course people fleeing from the police are speeding and most of them wreck. Speed contributes but the cause is that they were being chased by the police.

I think for the last 15 years, I've only bought paper towels, by the case, at Costco. I couldn't even tell you what brand they are, but a case does last for at least a year.

I was thinking the exact same thing while reading the posts. If they are really that bad I wouldn't keep them no matter how much it cost me, not worth the aggravation.

Really, it's just a paper towel. I'll get them used up. I said it was an insignificant vent/musing. I'm sure we've ALL used products before that haven't quite lived up to our expectations. It's really no big deal.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

LOL Gidget, your thread has provided me many giggles when most needed, so thank you. It is funny how some take such a simple topic so seriously. I had another idea for your paper towel collection.... you could make a quilt, or make some really amazing paper towel haute couture, like a one of a kind ballgown. If you start now you might have it done for next Oscar season, better yet the Golden Globes where they all drink.... you know there are spills... function and fashion. Pity the Bounty people would not appreciate our criticism of their product, it could make a funny commercial. Smile
