Re: To Those In Central PA Have You Been To

I live in eastern PA, but in times gone by found my way out to Country Cupboard. That is where I purchased beautiful porcelain carolers (4) (sorry, I forget the maker, but really quite nice, far superior than Byers Choice) and then over the years, acquired accessories.

The food was good from the restaurant, and the shopping for country things was fun!

Hope you enjoy your visit!

I visit Country Cupboard at least twice a year and was just there last week. The restaurant has a large menu and a large buffet which is mostly hot entrees and sides, but includes soups, salads and desserts. Good country cooking.  The shopping area includes garden decor and silk florals. There is a seasonal decor area, cards, calendars and gift wrap. A furniture department, kitchen linens and fun cookbooks and gadgets, candles, women’s clothing and accessories. A children’s toys and books area. Fresh baked goods and candy store. Phew! Hope I didn’t miss anything.

I live about 45 minutes from Country Cupboard.  It is a great place to eat and browse if you enjoy crafts or specialty food items.  Before my mom passed, we would go there weekly for her favorite...the lunch buffet.  She could have small portions of the things she liked best...always the creamed corn casserole...and of course a slice of pie.  We rarely left the restaurant without a jar of jam or a pound of fudge.

Been going there for 20 plus years.  Great place, beautiful hotels.  Are you going to eat there only?  There country selection in decor has gone down since the younger family members have taken over however there is also a wonderful place right up in Mifflenburg called the Decorating Center that has a wonderful cafe and their shop is stunning if you like country/farmhouse decor.  Have a wonderful time.

I'm so glad that you posted about this!  I've never heard of the Country Cupboard.  But, my daughter and I are planning to travel from Maryland up to Rochester, NY to visit family this summer.  We're going to go up RT 15, and this looks like a perfect place to stop!

"I've been here since October 2006. Wow!"

It is right on Route 15, can’t miss it.  If you are staying overnight can highly recommend either hotel...Best Western Country Cupboard Inn or the Country Inn right next door.  Immaculate and clean.  Have a fun trip!  Both owned by the family that started Country Cupboard.

Re: To Those In Central PA Have You Been To

Years and years ago my parents would order holiday pies from there. Mom always got 2 or 3 pies, and always a peanut butter. I didn't try it for years it just wasn't something I thought I'd like.  I can admit I was wrong. That pie is one of the best things I ever ate. DD who doesn't like PB loves it.  My sister lives 25 miles from there. She just retired Friday and the CC is going to be our first post retirement trip. I went to their website, I think leaving my credit card at home might be a good idea.lol

Re: To Those In Central PA Have You Been To

I live about 15 minutes away (if even that) from Country Cupboard. The store is very nice, maybe a little on the expensive side, but it's never stopped me from buying anything. The bakery is excellent.

The restaurant is nice, but (to us) the food is rather bland. There are a lot of older people who go there regularly for dinner, so that might be why. They definitely don't use much in the way of seasonings. They have a buffet on weekends, if anybody is interested in something like that.

I can tell you that they are packed for Sunday dinners and for weekend suppers as well as weekend breakfasts. It's a popular place for buses to stop, too.

Re: To Those In Central PA Have You Been To

I used to work for a grocery wholesaler and occasionally called on Country Cupboard. Their kitchen is the cleanest commercial kitchen I’ve ever been in. It’s so clean if I was eating m&m’s and dropped some, I’d probably pick them up and eat them.
