Good Morning to all the Snow Birds! Hope you all stayed warm and safe last night. Be sure and check in today and that goes for the East Coasters today, too.

Re: To Our Posters In The South

Waking up to snowy and icy Atlanta this morning. We've made it through fine so far, thankfully and I hope that holds. So happy to read that Irishgirl's daughter got home fine.

Thinking of everyone in the Northeast as this weather is affecting you now. Be safe. My aunt, who lives outside of Wilkes-Barre, said they're supposed to receive anywhere from 1 to 14 inches.

Is anyone in or near Atlanta that can tell me just how bad it is, and how long it's supposed to last? I can get the national weather, but it doesn't give much specifics. The pics I've seen on the news look bad. The reason I ask, I have a friend that is stuck tonight in Houston at the airport. Was supposed to get a connecting flight to Atlanta to be in a friend's wedding on Friday. He says so many flights are cancelled and all the hotels around the airport are booked up, he's sleeping in the airport. He is supposed to have a morning flight but he isn't holding his breath. I find it so sad for the couple that planned their wedding for Valentine's Day. I bet they never expected a freezing snow and ice storm to move through Atlanta. {#emotions_dlg.sad} Hope their guests are able to get there safely and they can make the best of it.

Good morning Jules. The snow here is tapering off now. Hopefully it will finish snowing in the next few hours, definitely by noon. We got the snow on top of the sleet and freezing rain that fell yesterday. I believe it's supposed to get up into the 40's today so I imagine they'll get the airport in good shape fairly quickly, but I don't know about your friend's flight here for the wedding tomorrow. Sending good wishes for that.

Woke to 14 inches, still snowing. On a brighter note, I'm so rural that state road maintenance doesn't come here. The contract with local farmers and at 6am I saw the tractor come thru making the first two passes and he just made two more passes. No power loss and I just saw two vehicles on the roads - no doubt its the good old boys with blades on their trucks heading out to plow the parking lots in town.

Snow/sleet is over...the sun is actually trying to peek through. It will start melting by this afternoon..high near 40 today...tomorrow near 55.

We lost two HUGE branches last night about 1:30am...no damage to anything but the tree.

Everyone up north stay safe! It's heading your way!

Maybe 4"" here. I woke up and peeked out the window about 2:30 and the snow had stopped. The Shelties are out playing in the snow now with blue skies and sunshine. Won't be around long. Third day missing school. First two days were a total waste. But they must err on the side of caution.

SO happy to see the beautiful Atlanta sunshine today and to see all the snow and ice melting! It's been a rough few days. Very thankful that we never lost power. Best wishes to everyone else who is dealing with this weather, as it moves up north.
