Try it once. I went on an Alaskan cruise.

I'm not at all interested in cruises for many reasons and wouldn't force myself to go just to be with family. There are many, many other enjoyable activities you can share.
Most importantly, I gather you don't have any idea how you might react on a boat in terms of motion sickness. That can be extremely unpleasant. I don't know if there are people who don't respond to motion sickness pills.
Just don't allow anyone to pressure you into going if you really don't care to.

I have been on two cruises and probably will not go on another. I would much rather spend the week or so spent on a cruise ship on land in a foreign country.
Funny note - I had an older neighbor when I lived in California that used to cruise free as a "host". He had to dance, play cards and buy the "older ladies" on the ship drinks to pay for the free cruise.

I've never been on a cruise. I have friends that go and absolutely love it. I think since you are open to the idea, why not go. You can get a prescription for some anxiety pills and get motion pills. You'll have them just in case you feel you need them.
Another option is to go wherever the ship is sailing from and spend a couple days with family there on the front end of the cruise.

I share your views, and understand perfectly. I do not like to be around water, as in lake, river, or ocean, and have no intentions of ever going on a cruise. I also refuse to fly.

Have fun if you decide to go. We went once and that was enough.

I am not a cruise person. There are other types of vacations I like better.
I would have to pass.

HaHaHa I'll be one of those old ladies but at least I would have a dance partner.

I've been on MANY cruises, and I love them. My favorite was on Crystal - first class, 5 star, a relatively small capacity ship. Excellent food and service. On every cruise, I've had either a suite or a room with a balcony. I would not go on a cruise on one of the mega ships. Way too many people.

I never expected so many responses. Thank you soooo much. I will let you all know my decision when I make it.
Thank you all
