Count me in as one who also loves nature. Heart It is the simple things that bring so much pleasure.

Awhile back I sold my long-term home, made the big, cross country move, and ended up in Arizona. What may've been a difficult or even traumatic experience was made enjoyable by the birds that're here!

Since I live in a migratory path (who knew??), it's a birdie lover's paradise! You never know what you're going to see. As a result, I love it here.

I DO wish we were all neighbors & could stand at the back fence and talk, as my family members are sick & tired of getting birds pictures. My sis calls me Koo-Koo the Bird Girl. LOL!

@sabatini

Koo-Koo the Bird Girl made me laugh.  I can relate to everything you said.  I also send my family lots of nature pictures and I'm sure they probably groan every time they see more coming through.

Where you live sounds like a birder's paradise.  I'm glad you're enjoying Arizona.  It's interesting how nature can get us through tough times. I live near a nature refuge and it has helped me in so many ways.  As soon as I enter the forest I feel a sense of peace and freedom.  It's so healing.

Happy birding!

@chickenbutt

Could your yellow birdies be American Goldfinches?

Re: To All The Nature Lovers Out There....

Hello @cotton4me! Yes, nature and wildlife are healing.

When I 1st arrived here, I did a whole lot of crying. 'What am I doing here? What's happened to me? Why did I leave everything/everyone I know?' I was at a real low.

But suddenly, everything changed & it seemingly happened all at once.

One day as I glumly sat in the [then] bleak yard, I heard a racket up in the palm tree.

'WTH was that'? Turned out it was a family of Gila woodpeckers. OMG, such antics & so noisy! Cute!

Then, a tiny baby quail weeble-wobbled into my garage one morning. Be still my heart, you darling thing! I scooped him up onto a dustpan w/ an envelope, and went searching for his home, which was in a huge, thick bush. I gently slid him off the dustpan under the bush.

I'd been wearing an ancient, threadbare caftan held together w/ safety pins & hadn't even combed my hair. I'm sure I looked a sight! A crazy lady in a flapping caftan carrying a baby quail on a dustpan. LOL!

Since then, I've become one of the local wild bird store's best customers.

It's so much fun to try and figure out what bird is at the feeders. I've had black-headed grosbeaks, a hooded oriole, Grace's warblers, cardinals, lovebirds, goldfinches galore, hummingbirds, Inca doves, Gambel quail, and a Louisiana water thrush & gilded flicker that hung around for days. I even love the sparrows and mockingbirds.

Don't get me started! I will bore you to tears. Woman LOL

How in God's name can anyone be depressed with so much beauty all around? Not me.

Night, all!

Muddling through...
