Everyone be careful!
Suzie- traffic is at a standstill in front of our house in East Cobb. My boss is stuck at our office in Alpharetta. He went out and couldn't get anywhere, so he turned around and went back in the office. Another friend's husband also turned around and went back to his office and is going to spend the night there.
We now have people walking down our road. No one walks down our road. And the Cobb school buses are delayed and can't get the middle schoolers. A friend who lives near me is walking 1.7 miles to get her son from middle school. She doesn't think she can get there by car.
This is just like it was during Snow Jam '82- 32 years ago.
Hope your friend makes it back home safely with her son.

I'm a bit farther north than Suzie and we are just having snow but the roads are slushy and icy. Treacherous driving today and will be much worse in the morning. Snow is wet and clinging to trees, especially the pines. Have some very low hanging branches already.
Marp- I'm in East Cobb. Marietta/Roswell area.
gidget......I have been to Roswell. We had some very dear friends that lived there. They lived in a beautiful subdivision where the houses were built around the golf course. That was so neat to see. Had a wonderful visit with them. They also took us up into the mountain area where they had a cabin. And, we visited the little town that had all those Christmas shops.
And yes, when the roads get icy and snow gets on top of it, that can be very nasty. We do get that here in St. Louis, so I know how scary it can be to be out on the road in that. I don't care how careful you are, it's the next guy you have to watch out for too.
By the way, since you told me your DH had cataract surgery, he certainly should no shovel any of that stuff......it can be pretty heavy, and you don't want his eye to start to hemorrhage. And no bending over either. Am sure the doctor told him all of that though.

I've texted him, even though he is in class and hopefully will check phone before leaving, to be sure and let car warm up properly, clear all windows and allow extra stopping distance. This will be his FIRST time driving in/on snow & hopefully not much ice . . . yet . . . the bell should be ringing in just a few . . . then we're in for the duration. Hopefully things will be back to normal on Thursday a.m. Not suppose to get above 32 tomorrow. He was suppose to have band practice until 5:30 but of course all after school activities are canceled. And husband finally, after a week and one day working at home, went to work today. Of course he did. Goodness. 25 'ish miles away. At least he has much more experience driving in adverse conditions. Not to say those around him on the highway will though.
Qwackertoo, hope your DS makes it home safe and sound. Know you will be happy to see his face when he gets there.

Oh yes......I remember all the eye drops. Glad he is doing fine. Bet he is glad he had it done. And bet he noticed a big difference in how bright colors were afterwards.

Yay he made it. And his Dad arrived home maybe 10 minutes before him. He left work early. So now I don't have to worry about either of them. Thanks, ShowMe~!

ShowMe,
Very nice thread. I hope you are doing well? You have had your share of bad weather. I also hope everyone in all effected areas stay safe and warm. We are having another Polar Vortex, that name makes me laugh. It used to be Arctic blasts, I guess they changed it, but I am not complaining not when I look at the weather map and see tons of snow, bad, bad weather, minus number that are not windchill. We had minus 4 and figure in the windchill we were quite low today and haven't even made it out of the single digits. I would rather take that than those high real minus numbers anytime, or even figuring in the windchill. There have been times we have been -38, -45 with the windchill. This is a weird winter.
Stay safe and warm everyone.

Have been thinking of all of you today and hoping everyone is at home safe and sound now.
See where my friend "loveschocolate" started a thread this morning, knowing she was concerned about all of you too.
I had the Weather Channel on a while ago and see where there is another storm "Maximus". Hopefully the metropolitan areas will be prepared this one.
