I was looking around at Kohls this afternoon, everything was buy one get 50% off. But it seemed to me the first item was priced doubly so that 50% didnt mean anything. Besides that I didn't need two pair of jeans or two bras. Just getting tired of gimmicks. Thanks for letting me vent.

Yeah, most of the time it’s useless to me too.

I agree, the original ticket prices on some stuff is outrageously high. They do carry loads of inventory though.

I agree, it's dumb. Why don't they just make it 25% off up front and be honest about it?

When JCPenneys was doing their buy one get the second for a penny gig, they did that. I was looking for kitchen curtains at the time and one windows worth were $60!

Buy one, get one 50% off is basically 25% off.....when the markup is already much too high, you are still paying too much. I would rather just have a fair price...but then customers wouldn't think they were getting a "bargain".

I don't mind that at all - particularly for stuff I use all the time. Supermarket had quite offers on staples.
Walgreen's does it a lot ... I always take advantage. I'll take any savings that's offered.

Yes never ever but from Kohl’s when they do this. Even if you need two your over paying. It’s best to wait for it to go back down and use a coupon. My mom wanted a vase there. It was $70 buy one get 50 off second. She waited a few days and it went back down to $30. Kohl’s rips you off with thr buy one get on 50% off.

@MoJoV I agree with you, but it's not just clothes. In the grocery stores it's the same thing!
With much of the population getting old(er) and many becoming a one person household, the last thing people need (or want for that matter) is 2 or 3 of something that they came to the store with the purpose of buying ONE of that same item!
I mostly shop at Harris Teeter grocery store. They will let you buy one item and divide it by half.
However, that does not help people who are clothes shopping.
Why in the world would someone want 2 of most of the things they are shopping for? Just doesn't make sense!!

This has been a pet peeve of mine since way back in the day when I used to buy a lot at 9-West shoe outlet. Please don't make me have to look for a 2nd pair of shoes I don't need! But lately...I really am tired of CVS, buy 1 get 50% off all through the store. Meanwhile, they send me a coupon to discount my entire purchase, 25-30% off, every week by email, to put onto my loyalty card. But "sale" items, which all the buy1 get one 50% off qualify as, don't get discounted, so much of what I need doesn't qualify for the coupon and I don't need doubles.
I'm really tired of this gimmick too. I'm going to just start ignoring it all soon and just go buy what I need wherever. The energy spent trying to get the best prices can be time consuming, and way too complicated. Not sure when all is said and done if we really get true discounts on much.
I also worked briefly p/t at an outlet LOFT years ago, and omg...those coupons & discounts (wasn't just LOFT, but all the stores there) were SO complicated, it drove people and us nuts trying to satisfy every angle for the customer as well as coding them all differently in the register! Just give us a dang sale.
