That's a good thing to know!    I don't remember why, but something always told me to turn the a/c off before I shut down the engine.

I kind of have my own made-up mantras.   A couple of them are - 

'Don't personalize things that are not personal.'

'You cannot reason with the unreasonable.'

'If I can make one person smile, it's a good day.'

When I was ten we had a huge family gathering at our house. I had tons and Aunts and Uncles. I still remember my one Aunt telling the other women how she puts lotion on herself every single day and how soft her skin was. I took that to heart. Ever since, for the past 52 years now, I have become a fanatic about always lotioning my body. Yes, it has paid off.

My mother used to say, "Can't means won't."  Meaning, if you think you can't you will never try and you will never accomplish that task. That is very wise and has stuck with me.

OTOH, another of her sayings, "Don't sit on the freezing ground, you'll get a cold in your kidneys," hasn't turned out to be so useful.
