What bothers me is when I see a solid wall of text, not broken up into paragraphs. I just don't understand why some people do this all the time.

It's one thing if it's a few sentences but when it gets to be several inches long I simply can't read it!  I've given up trying!

I have no problem with the ALL CAPS thread titles and I don't find it rude at all.

However, on the topic of Thread Titles: the ones I think are rude as those that give no indication at all what the topic is about.  The ones that say "I Just Heard..." or " Did You See This..." or "Wow, Look at That...."   It's as if the OP is attempting to coerce you into opening the thread.

When I initiate a thread I always attempt to make the topic very clear in the title, so those not interested in the subject matter can just easily avoid it.

I've taken to not opening threads where the topic isn't clear, which is probably the OP's opposite intent.

I agree.  They're trying for more foot traffic to a boring topic I think.

I also really appreciate it when someone gives the full subject of a title.

I think the reason I have been drawn to this discussion is I am big on not assuming what people's intentions are and applying adjectives that are less than complimentary as to what those intentions "might" be.  In today's world there seems to me to be way too much presumption.  I cannot  say that I have never been guilty of this because I am sure I have been.  The more I see it  the more aware I become of how important it is to word our thoughts in such a way as not to presume anything!

If anyone really equates typing a thread title in all caps with being rude or "shouting," I just don't know what to say.

i usually type in lower case letters. but i did recently post a question in all caps on the title .didn't do it to be obnoxious. just wanted to get an answer to my question. people have different styles when they write. it doesn't mean they are trying to get attention.

Hey @Lucky Charm ...can't read your post...waiting with baited breathe to read your post in another color. lol

@croemer,  when you run into a situation like the yellow text highlight it (as though you were selecting it to copy) and it will be readable.

@Marp...well I learn something every day. TY!!

My first job - I typed checks on an electric typewriter - eveything was in caps

Name, address, amount typed out in full

My 2nd job - I had to type some Purchase Orders also on an electric typewriter -

Name, addres and instructions or order was all caps and doubled spaced

When we finally got company email - I left the CAPS  lock key on and did my emails that way

Someone finally asked me if they did something wrong as I was shouting back in response-

I didn't know what he meant - he explained it to me - I appreciated it and in the 90s.

I don't mind titles in CAPS - body type is a whole different thing - not bc it is shouting but rather difficult to read

I also like paragraphs - but when I used to use a mobile device - I couldn't, but that was a long while ago - I now use a laptop

@croemer   Good question and I really don't know for sure.  However I can make paragraphs when I text so I don't know if it's different sending a message here.
