@pieman  I am on Medicare now in Georgia. Before then, I was with Kaiser Permanente and continued with them and with the same Doctor. That woman is on top of everything. Some people don't care for Kaiser but I think it has to do with where you live.

Please find someone who would take good care of you.

@Sage04

Thanks Sage,,

They had a place down here went by the name of Bio-Spine.

I went there to meet the doctor, he was very welcoming, not like the others.

I had all the tests done and he explained what had to be done.

I asked if the procedure could be done in CT, he said indeed, as he was aware of 2 he had met at some conventions on this particular way of doing this surgery,

As he said, everyone has their way of doing things, which is true,

United Health is okay and I have the best Plan offered, Its the Plan F, which you can no longer get....   I was lucky with that and my husband got in with it, just  under the wire ..

My complaint was with the doctors acceptance with us that are on it.

If the doctors are willing to fight for what they want for their patients its fine, but most say they are too busy and really at time, I don't blame them as the insurance companies want things done on their time, unfortunately doctors aren't on their schedule...

I think I will be in good hands...

Thank you again for your kind words,

Be well,,,,,,,

Thanks to all who shared their thoughts.  It looks like some have had bad experiences and others are happy with Medicare.

To answer a few questions, I do live in a somewhat rural area however we have a very well respected Medical Center just 12 miles down the road. I just needed to get a Derm appt and that was a challenge.

I have Original Medicare and a great Supplement through my former job.

I understand someone saying maybe I over-reacted.  As was already mentioned, you can read the long story on the Pet Lovers forum.  I think the majority of folks posting here wouldn't willingly allow parasites to live and breed on them when there's a treatment protocol available if only you can get a darn appointment.  THAT's the problem. And if you were scratching so bad you couldn't get a good night's sleep, and this continued for days and days and then it turned into 2 weeks while you desperately begged for someone to help you get an appointment for a skin scraping, you might understand what dh and I went through. Offering an appointment in April '23 for this kind of acute situation is not acceptable.

I believe the reason we've had to go through 2 separate types of treatments to get rid of these parasites is due to the length of time this situation went on and the misdiagnosis of the original person whom I went to.

I am ith Kaiser.  They have been good to me. I am on their Meedical Financial Aid.  If you make below a certain income, they do not charge you for copays, pres. labs, xrays, inc. Lots of benefits. I have told through the years my senior friends about this plan and they were able to benefit from it. You have to sign up every year and show proof of income.

I haven't had any problems getting appts as needed. When I had shingles back in March I called my doctor's office that evening and was seen early the next day.

I don't think it is Medicare. Health care providers are VERY short staffed.

This is exactly what the problem is and it has been ongoing for a while in our country.  Then the pandemic hit and some people chose to have travelling jobs.  Some chose to retire after so many years of work.  The primary reason for lack of physicians is that the schools aren't churning them out as much as they used to.
