I also had intense itch for several days. I have a friend who was wiped out on couch for two days and lost most of the memory of those two days. She said she had phone conversations people told her about later. To be honest I don't know whether she had Moderna or Pfizer.

I had no side effects for the first Moderna vaccine. I had the second this morning and feel fine. After reading some of the side effects, I confess to being worried about the second. So far so good, though. Feeing good this afternoon....

Must admit wonder what the second Moderna shot will be like.
The first one itched and my arm was swollen and sore for a week.

I had the first shot. Ten days later my arm was swollen, rash, and itchy at the injection site. Took about 3 days to go away. Have my second shot coming up next week. My doctor told me to plan on not feeling good for a couple of days. Great...

I just got the second Moderna Wednesday afternoon. After a few hours I got a headache that got worse and worse as the night went on. I woke up yesterday with the headache plus backache and fever and chills. I didn't take anything because the nurse told me to try not to unless absolutely necessary. So I powered through yesterday and woke up today feeling perfectly fine.

I had Moderna with no side affects after the first shot. I have not had my second shot yet.
I heard someone from the CDC explain what causes pain in the arms after getting the vaccine. The vaccine is given into a muscle. The most important thing to do is get the vaccine out of the muscle as fast as possible.
He said the most important thing to do immediately after the shot is to keep bending your elbow and lift something at least weighing a pound or heavier. While waiting the 15 minutes after the shot, women should keep lifing their purse or something they take with them. Lift your purse like a dumbell, bending the elbow down and up repeately. If you don't have a purse (man) bring along a 1lb dumbbell or something which weighs at least 1lb. Something heavier is even better.
I heard this the morning I was scheduled for my shot. I thought, no problem, my purse must weigh 10lbs. I did what he said, on and off during the 15 minute wait and my arm was never sore at all. I could press on the site of the injection and felt nothing.
What he explained is that the vaccine is very irritating to the muscle. The faster you can move it out of the muscle the better. He said if you don't move it out, the muscle contracts and the vaccine sits in the muscle for a long time and the muscle gets increasingly irritated and swollen.
It made sense to me and I tried it and it worked. Told my daughter and she did it and no soreness at all. Same with son, again no problem.
All of us have always gotten sore arms after a flu shot. Now we are all determined to do this anytime we get a shot.

I think the biggest side effect I had from the 2nd Moderna shot was an enormous sense of relief and gratitude. Everything else was minor in comparison.

Teacher daughter had her 2nd shot on a Friday. She went to bed with a headache, and woke up around 4 a.m. with a fever and chills that lasted thru Sunday. Injection site reaction is a given with her, but Sunday afternoon her arm was itchy, red, hot, with softball size swelling that lasted until Wednesday.
My husband takes high doses of analgesic meds daily, so we noticed no side effects after his 2nd shot. He would've had to have a very severe reaction for us to see a problem.
My SIL had her 2nd shot last Sunday, went to bed feeling fine. Felt fine Monday morning when she was getting ready for work, but the chills hit while she was driving to work, so she turned around and went back home. She ran a slight temperature that day, but worked on Tuesday.
No one we know has dealt with anything more than slight discomfort from normal reactions.

My 88 year old neighbor got both shots and no reaction. Her advice to me was to keep moving my arm like a chicken wing doing the chicken dance. Since she had no bad effects, I decided to listen to her. My DH and I got our first Moderna shot yesterday and we both took her advice and we are fine.
This information was given to her by a nurse who was assisting where she got her shots.
I am hoping this works for the second shot. We are scheduled to received at the end of April.
