Re: This is unbelievable - my local weatherman -

@YorkieonmyPillowThe people I saw on my local news were going today (Friday) and had their pick of seats.  I assume few want to fly in that direction right now.

Not as easy to leave as you think.  Roads are a mess and my daughter and family had a flight out.  American Airlines cancelled their seats.  No idea.

Those who can evacuate, even to a shelter, and a lot of shelters are accepting pets, but choose to stay out of sheer stubbornness, because they have ridden out other hurricanes and survived, have sealed their fate.

If anything happens to them, they only have themselves to blame.

Some people might have but I doubt that very many people have done that.

My local weatherman said that some people here have flown to FL to be with family members who would not leave!

  YIKES!  Woman Surprised

How did they even get a flight?

@software, finding seats into Florida wasn't a problem.  GF returned home to SoFl last evening.  There were only 20 people on the flight.

Planes need to fly in to be able to get people out. The number of flights were increased.  I believe the last flight out of MIA and possibly FLL have taken place.  If PBI hasn't shut down it will soon.

What is good for the goose today will also be good for the gander tomorrow.

@software, there are private pots who charter their planes....

No matter what I say, there are any number of home watch services that would have attended to those needs, and they know how to do it.

There are many with elderly parents, and those parents don't want to leave...I have a feeling they intend to put the elders into a car-do whatever's demanded to get them out of harm's way. Bless them- for those trying to save family.

@Laura14: I'm in Central Fl.  Hoping it's not gonna be too bad. Best wishes for your Mom.

The authorities tell people to evaluate but not everyone has a car, fuel is in short supply for those who do, and not everyone can afford a flight or hotel room. Why didn't they bring in buses and military transport planes to get people out?

Re: This is unbelievable - my local weatherman -

I've been watching FL511, it's already a mess now, Friday night

High winds, rain and the roads are a mess.

It doesn't look like the southbound interstate is reversed but using the shoulder is allowed.

I guess lots of folks bugged out after work.

Bless every one of them.
