Re: Thinking outside the box

[ Edited ]

Panda123 - Thank you for understanding. It was a wonderful time with my four siblings and their adult children, as well as my grandson.

We found a poem by my brother-in law the day before mom's service that mom had copied and (in pencil) had noted, "For my funeral." Of course, we had him read it. It was such a personal touch.

The music was selected with special pieces (mom had been a pianist in her own right) and mom had also requested the Plymouth Brass from our Church play some jazz. It was like going to a concert of sorts!

A good friend of mine (my former administrative asst.) was the soloist. She had performed opera in NYC prior to returning to Nebraska to raise her family; she was touched to sing at mom's service. Her voice in our Church's perfect accostics was stellar.

The solar eclipse was amazing the following Monday, too! It was, indeed, a weekend our entire family will remember fondly.

Not sad day, but a day of celebration of a life well lived. A woman who was far more than "mom" . . . she was a success in so many ways and well before her time in her journalism career and so much more. (I'm lost without her!)

Memorials went to our Church, the Humane Society and our City Libraries. Proud to say we received a large amounts for each one. Mom would have been so overwhelmed with gratitude.

Money screams; wealth whispers.
