In my state there would be almost (with rare exceptions) no roof issues other than plain old age. No continued heavy rain, no wind strong enough to blow roofs or parts of roofs off. No flooding. People are responsible for their own roof repair from age, period.
OTOH, homeowner earthquake insurance is expensive with huge deductibles.
And last I heard the West Coast is still a (large) part of the US.
And then we have Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, Wyoming and Colorado. No tornadoes or torrential rains there either. Just snow in some areas. Having had family living where it snows every winter (sometimeas heavily), no one has ever mentioned roof damage from snow. Go figure.

As I have said in what, 3 posts? I know what insurance has done when it comes to roofs in our area. More specifically, our replaced, not repaired roofs. Along with my sister having her home/stable and indoor riding ring for her horses?
Not repaired, replaced. Both neighbours even closs to our property, have also had their roofs replaced, not repaired, from the same type of damage done to our roof.Who they have for their insurers. Beats me, but their roofs were replaced.

@hckynutIn case you wonder who I have it's State Farm. We have a very good policy. It's just the way it is here. I will get a premium break with our new roof which resists hail damage and is very fire resistant. for 15 grand it should be

You keep repeating what applies to everyone's roofs in your area and everyone's roofs that you know of. And you have wondered where (as it's outside your experience according to your own words) people could live where their roofs don't need replacement or repair, because people often seem to need this where you live (again, by your posts).
I merely gave examples where the weather conditions are quite different, and such roof replacement needs due to storms and other "Acts of Diety" pretty much do not exist - i.e. I answered your question as to where people DON'T have weather-related roof issues.

@cherry wrote:@hckynut a roof lasts around 25 years. If its new and under warranty the roofing company takes care of it. If its older the insurance might cover if its not too old. We have never had a leak until now so I really don't know. It's time to re-roof so its down to us I guess. If you sustain water damage they might cover that. I'm not sure
Everyone I know has had to cough up for their roofs
ps we can get very heavy rain and lots of snow too
You are not alone. We live in suburban NYC and everyone I know in our development paid to have their roof replaced. Like everything else a roof wears out.
