I don't have the room to store a lot of stuff--a good thing, IMO!!

Usually have an extra of cleaning supplies of things like dish detergent, bowl cleaner and Windex. I was just thinking that I shouldn't put those things on my shopping list until they are nearly gone. Perhaps I feel more organized having a spare but it's not necessary.

Yes. I also worry about running out of things. I have to use unscented products because of health issues and they were the first to disappear during the pandemic (detergent, body wash, deodorant, etc). When we had our house we had plenty of room for extras so we were always prepared in the event of emergencies or shortages.
Now I live in a small apartment so there isn’t any extra room. I’ve had to be more creative. They provide a very small storage area in the basement, so I use that to store a few extra supplies. I also use the trunk of my car for extra paper towels and Kleenex.

When I retired 10 years ago, I was already well settled into my routine of buying and stocking this house.
Like @Carmie, whatever we need, can always be found here; I do "not run out" of anything. My goal is to stay out of stores as much as possible, so if I can buy cases of food and some products, I'm interested. I haven't bought toilet paper for a year.
I don't make trips into town unless I have a list of multiple things to do.

@Desert Lily wrote:I had a same-day delivery from Target last week bc I needed milk, only a few grocery items, toothbrush heads, & Dove deodorant. The shopper texted me that if I get 4 Dove deodorants instead of 2, I get a $5 gift card. I did, & I gave the card to her.
In the upstairs bathroom, I already had 2 unscented Dove deodorants unopened. Downstairs, I had 2 scented ones; 1 was open & low. I now have a total of 8 deodorant bars.
It's like when the grocer had a sale last month on toilet paper: buy 2 and get a discount. I wanted two packs of 12 for the discount. They ran out of 12's, so I ended up with two packs of 30.
Upstairs, I already had two 12 packs.
Downstairs, I had one open 12 pack.
I now have 90 quadruple rolls of toilet paper. LOL
I won't even go into the paper towels, although they're not as bad.
I put some of the paper goods under the beds bc the cupboards are full. LOL
I am the only person in my house.
I have enough deodorant and toilet paper for at least 6 months. LOL
Have you ever been overwhelmed by your household supplies?
Hopefully, the deodorant won't suffer from any shelf life issues. Some things do nowadays.

I have an adequate amount of back ups. When the pandemic started, I only had a partial package of toilet paper left. Maybe 6 rolls. Then I could find none for weeks and weeks. Won't happen again. I now have about 30 rolls. I bought baby wipes at the time
as I could not find any. Body wash, enough for probably 2 years. Getting that to a manageable amount.
Still have a partial 3 shelf bookcase with beauty supplies, paper products, tooth paste, shampoo, and body creams/lotions/hand soaps. Too much, but not tons of anything one thing in there. Ok, I just counted six Dove deodorants. That's the most of one item.
Plus the cost keeps going up and up, so glad to have a little extra of each.

When I see a good price on something that I use a lot I buy one or two extra. I also live alone. With the way prices keep going up it is nice to have the items I need. I set up shelves in my basement to store extra items.

That is so funny.
I don't get overwhelmed by household supplies anymore but I have gotten huge jars of things when I only ordered a small size or a whole bunch of bananas when I ordered 2 single ones. I figured maybe the packer just didn't feel like breaking them up or something?! Or couldn't find the small jar so thought what the heck, I'll throw in the large jar!![]()

@Carmie - Bless you and your husband for giving that man the paper towels.

We never really ran out of things or thought about it before the Pandemic. We ate out alot (more than at home) so groceries was never an issue and paper products were always available.
Once the pandemic hit with closures and shortages we began eating at home and buying bulk of items. Consequently I now have a lot of canned vegetable soup to get eaten before it expires and I'm no longer in the mood for it. We continue to stock up on paper products and a spare of cleaning supples. Multiples of canned goods with long expiration dates and multiples boxes of cereal. Always make sure we have 2 cartons of eggs and 2 containers of 2% lactose free milk on hand. It sometimes is not in stock in 2%. Multiple cartons of sweet tea and unsweet tea.
The only thing I would say we run out of is bread - only because what we have in the cupboard is expired depending on how much bread we ate between grocery trips. DH is the shopper and doen't always check dates and replace bread when he sees there is some in the cupboard on his hasty scan of what we need at the store.
