@AuntG  I couldn't get toilet bowl cleaner some weeks during the pandemic and ended up using regular bleach in the bowls. Now, I have 4 bowl cleaners in each bathroom. I guess there are after effects of the pandemic that weren't always thought of.

@cotton4me   Your idea of using your car for storage of necessities is a creative solution.

NO, I haven't been overwhelmed with household supplies. I DON'T like clutter.

Yes!  We don't have a lot of space here and both my niece and I shop.  We have a bad habit of buying things without checking with each other.  I have enough cooking oil and butter to open a restaurant.  We have toilet paper and paper towels stored under our beds.

@KathyM23

It does take time now to keep oldest items to front. I work at donating extra food (soup) to pantry before expiration date.

When I was growing up we had a huge family.  Nine kids and two parents.  Many,many times the toothpaste was rolled up and pressed to death in order to get that last particle

onto the brush.  Shampoo bottles filled with water to get whatever clung to the walls of the bottle!   As a result  of those experiences, I have an armoire packed with multiple shaving cream cans, about 10 deodorants, 3 large Listerine bottles, tons of shampoo and razors and blades galore.  Under my kitchen sink there is enough dish soap to do the dishes of Beijing, and 3 of the largest Purex laundry liquid bottles that are commercially available.  I could also clean the western hemisphere with the cleaning products under there.

I am even worse with paper towels and toilet paper.  I guess the scars of  want in your childhood have everlasting effects.  Thank God for Costco and BJs!

It doesn't overwhelm me, but I suppose I could go for a year or even more before I buy some items.  My closet probably has 30 or more bars of dove soap. I must have close to 100 rolls of toilet paper and maybe 50 rolls of paper towels.

I have food stored in bulk too.  I have always lived this way.  I very seldom run out of anything except for fresh fruit and veggies.

During the pandemic when items were impossible to find, ( flour, cleaning supplies, Lysol) I shared with my family and neighbors.  A complete stranger saw the hoard of paper towels in our garage as he walked by and asked my DH if he could buy a roll.  My DH gave him two rolls free of charge.

I have room to properly store the items and they do get used.  There really only the two of us...and three adult children who occasionally "shop" in my closets and cupboards if they need something and have no time to go to the store.

I wish my daughter and son-in-law would come shop in my cupboards and pantry shelves.

It was just yesterday I was thinking I could feed the two of us for at least a month, maybe longer without having to shop except for dairy, produce and bread.

I'm like you. I grew up with nothing and there are certain things I tend to overdo. Toilet paper and laundry detergent are ones I've always struggled to keep under control. I can go overboard on Diet Coke sales so have been working on that too.

I've been working on downsizing my home and it has also helped me to learn to control the need to have too much backup. I'm doing a lot better than I used to.

My favorite soup recipe calls for a can of kidney beans and a can of black beans.  I buy a can of each every time I go to the store.  I have many cans of beans.
