They are transitioning to recovery.

They are transitioning to recovery. The death toll is 54. I didn't want to write this post. Sad beyond words.

Re: They are transitioning to recovery.

This is so tragic in so many ways...my heart is broken and heavy for all of those innocent people ...

I just look at this and 9-11 comes back to mind ... another tragedy we will never forget.

God Bless These "Souls" and the responders who are looking for any item or more to bring these poor families some closure...

I just can't imagine the recovery workers, they have bodies/parts that need to be identified.

Be thankful we have individuals that provide that service and of course the dogs that are trained for the recovery of dead bodies.

Re: They are transitioning to recovery.

Thank you @Mistreatedbycs as these "special angels" (what I call them) never talk about it ... my spouse spent 17 months at the cleanup site doing exactly what you stated for WTC and he is just talking about it.   Only reason is he has major health issues and the doctor needed to know the extent of his involvement.

These responders are certainly a "special breed" like many who serve ...

So prayers for all them are what they need!

@homedecor1

I never thought about the toxic environment and what they could be exposed to.  Thank you to your husband for what he has done and thank you to all the people on the ground, I just can't imagine.

@MistreatedbycsThere are two groups of dogs:  Life-Find for survivors and the cadaver dogs for the deceased.

The life-find dogs can suffer depression-in fact, at the Oklahoma bombing the life-find dogs were becomming so depressed that rescue/recovery workers would pretend to be victims so that the dogs could find some survivors.

There are dogs on site now for the workers because the workers are feeling the effects of this grim task and are experiencing depression and anxiety.

Mindy D  has been keeping us appraised of what's going on at that site.  That's probably why.  She is a poster who doesn't mind sharing (even subject matters that she doesn't have to @bcherry01

I am grateful that she is here to keep us in the loop.
