The Dept. of Health and Human Services examined the Yorkville Endoscopy Center, where Joan stopped breathing. The Dept. found there's no record that the staff weighed Joan before administering the Propofol ... the point being, the amount of the sedative should be based on size.
The computer at the clinic also shows she was given a huge dosage of Propofol. A staff member told the Dept. she made a mistake inputting the dosage and put in more than twice the actual amount give to Joan.
And according to the report, Joan's personal doctor, Gwen Korovin, came into the operating room without authorization. The Dept. says she announced to the room, "I will go first" ... meaning she would do the first procedure on Joan.
And, according to the report, Joan only consented to an upper endoscopy procedure, but Dr. Korovin did more ... a laryngoscopy.
As for the now-famous selfie pic that Dr. Korovin took in the room ... according to the Dept. the doctor asked the staff to take the picture of her doing the procedure, saying Joan might have wanted it.
And finally ... the Dept. says the doctors didn't notice Joan was literally dying on the table. As her oxygen levels plummeted, they were oblivious.

So she had Dr Kevorkian(sp? at the helm).
One mistake is bad...that so many were irresponsible is unconscionable.

How utterly sad that her life was taken like this and her daughter, grandson and her friends are without her today. Melissa needs to sue them out of existence, not because they need the money, but because they need to be shut down and licenses pulled.
Amen!

Oh my, if this is all true, it's worse than anyone thought. So basically, Joan went in a fairly healthy elderly woman and came out dead before her time. How on earth did she get involved with this particular clinic in the first place??

How is it possible that they didn't know her oxygen levels were dropping off? Isn't she hooked up to a monitor? Would there have been something they could inject into an IV or something that could reverse the overdose of anesthetic if they'd realized what was happening? Was there an anesthesiologist present or a nurse anesthetist? Were they breaking any laws or regulations in terms of what they did here?
If I was Melissa, I would want criminal charges brought if possible. A civil suit would not be enough if someone was hugely negligent, which seems to be the case here. It seems that the anesthesia person was at fault.

I would think they should have had an oxygen monitor connected to her finger???

Someone taking photos in the room just gives me the chills. How irresponsible were these people? I think Melissa will make sure something good comes out of Joan's death.

Why would a doctor who was using that kind of anesthesia NOT insist that the procedure be performed in a hospital and not some clinic? There is a difference between using versed or and Propofol I would think. How sad for Melissa and her son to know this didn't need to happen.
