Daily Positive Thread for Friday

Hello my friends! Today went well - he went to Dr. Mike, and found out that those symptoms he had could very well be vertigo, all of them, so he adjusted him, and he's good again! Lori was here for supper, thought he should go to PT for inner ear problems, said a client went and got rid of her vertigo. He's still going to the neurologist yet, because that's scheduled - MD's want that done. Vertigo will not show up on those scans. So he didn't have any strokes and that is wonderful news! Praise the Lord! Dr. Mike will have to refer him to the PT Lori says she knows a good one that helped her client. This forenoon we had an appt. at the funeral home to check out our options. Need to talk this over with the girls, cremation is so much cheaper! Just wanted to get our ducks in order - that's necessary. It was interesting there, was not looking forward to it though. Tomorrow he picks up Deil for the weekend - I'll stay home and bake some bread. Will have her and Lori here for supper - made a good chicken vegetable soup. Just want some fresh home made bread to go with it. Well that it for tonight! Praying you all have very many special blessings!! Love you all very much!!!

Hello to Shorelady - hope things are going well for you!! I'm glad you still read here and post when you feel like! All who posted on the last thread - thank you!! Love reading your posts always. Sometimes I think I talk too much here!! Yes, I know I do. Also all of you who just read and not post - praying for you all too!! But if you wish, post once in a while so I know you are there!!!

The important thing is not how long your life is, but how good your life is.

Lord, may I glorify You all the days of my life.

Scripture for the day:

"Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were

called in the one body. And be thankful." ~Colossians 3:15

Meditation for the day:

We can be at home and comfortable in the world. Yet some of us live

lives of quiet desperation. This is the opposite of being at home and at

peace in the world. We can let our peace of mind be evident to those around

us.

We can let others see that we are comfortable, and seeing it, know that it

springs from our trust in God. The dull, hard way of resignation is

not God's way. Faith can take the sting out of the winds of adversity and

can bring peace even in the midst of struggle.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may be more comfortable in my way of living. I pray that

I may feel more at home and at peace within myself.

IN THE NIGHT

By Sally I. Kennedy

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

Psalm 46:1

Lucy is one of my husband’s favorite relatives. She is a gentle

person. Exactly the kind of mother, grandmother, aunt, or neighbor you

would want. Her hair is white and curled, and patted down to cover the

balding thinness. She walks bent over from the great hump on her back

from osteoporosis.

Lucy always has a ready and listening ear. She always has something

kind and encouraging to say. You just feel better being around her.

She stays busy with friends and family, but lives alone. Her husband

and best friend of 45 years, died. I asked her, "How are you really

doing?" She paused, then said, "It's hardest in the night. Everything

is worse at night."

Lucy's peaceful and pleasant demeanor covers her real feelings of

ongoing loneliness and anxiety. In the book of Samuel, in the Bible,

it says we look at what we can see, but God looks at the heart.

Sometimes we look all "together" when really we are in our "night."

God alone sees into our deepest heart of hearts. He knows what is

written there.

He is always about the business of comforting us. He actually provides

us with His very presence. That word of hope is real good news.

Especially in the night.

Praying The Offering Of Self

Lord Jesus, You told your friends not to worry about the future.

You showed them how to have the attitude of simple trust that young children

have,

so that they could place themselves into the caring hands of Your Father.

And so, I ask for the power of Your Spirit that I may remain positive

throughout all

that is ordinary in my daily life.

I know that Your touch can change people and situations, and so I ask You to

join me

in offering to Our Father not only the good things of this day but also the

suffering and sacrifices

that I want to offer cheerfully and lovingly and in a quiet and hidden way.

And so may any dificulties and frustration and pain of this day be

transformed in Your Presence

for the benefit of other people.

Amen.

Build a Box of Friendship

Into a box of friendship

To insure that it is strong

First a layer of respect

On the bottom does belong

Then to the sides attach

In the corners where they meet

Several anchors full of trust

Devoid of all deceit

The height of friendship can be measured

By the sides of four

So make them all a larger cut

And the box will hold much more

Now fill it up with courtesy

Honor and esteem

Understanding, sympathy

And passion for a dream

Add to that your honesty

Emotions joy and love

And since they're so important

Place them up above

But leave the box wide open

So all can see inside

To learn what makes a friendship work

From the box you built with pride

A Gentle Thunder

Once there was a man who dared God to speak.

"Burn the bush like you did for Moses, God. And I will follow."

"Collapse the walls like you did for Joshua, God. And I will fight."

"Still the waves like you did on Galilee, God. And I will listen."

And so the man sat by a bush, near a wall, close to the sea and waited for

God to speak.

And God heard the man, so God answered.

He sent fire, not for a bush, but for a church.

He brought down a wall, not of brick, but of sin.

He stilled a storm, not of the sea, but of the soul.

And God waited for the man to respond.

And he waited...

And he waited...

And waited.

But because the man was looking at bushes, not hearts; bricks and not lives;

seas and not souls,

he decided that God had done nothing.

Finally he looked to God and asked, "Have you lost your power?"

And God looked at him and said, "Have you lost your hearing?"

Max Lucado

I Wish You

When you are lonely

I wish you love.

When you are down

I wish you joy.

When you are troubled

I wish you peace.

When things are complicated

I wish you simple beauty.

When things are chaotic

I wish you inner peace.

When things looks empty

I wish you hope.

Meditations by Padre Pio

I beseech you, for the love of God, do not fear God, because He doesn’t want

to do you any harm at all. Love Him a great deal because He wants to do you

a great deal of good. Walk simply, with certainty in your resolutions, and

reject the reflections of spirits concerning your suffering, treating them

as cruel temptations.

Mother Teresa Said...

It is a wonderful thing that God Himself loves us tenderly. Knowing this

should give us courage and joy for living.

I so enjoy the glimpses into your everyday life. You seem so content and comfortable with who you are and the life you lead. I believe you find positive in every situation. You are a pretty special woman. ETA-----one of the posters has this as her tag line "" A CHANGE OF ATTITUDE IS A CHANGE OF DESTINY"" .....words to take to heart for many.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Friday

Gloria, I have lost track again, I'm afraid... but relieved to hear Linus' tests showed no traces of strokes. At least that is safely ruled out! I have suffered spells of vertigo my entire life, due to chronic inner ear issues. It can simply develop, too, as we age -- your daughter is right. There is PT for it, that does help many! Praying he is led to lasting relief.

Requesting prayers for peaceful resolutions surrounding the troubles in Ferguson, MO.

Hello to all here and may your day be blessed of Jesus. ~Joy

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Friday

Good afternoon wonderful ladies,

I haven't long returned from awful mart, you know the place I'm talking about! lol I just hate going but I needed to pick up a baby shower gift I ordered online. Ran into the girl I'm giving it to. lol I told her to turn her head but too late. lol Oh well.

Gloria, I'm glad to hear it isn't strokes, that is great. Not that vertigo is so good, I have that myself so I know the feeling. Enjoy your weekend with your sister. I'm like Harlene, I smell that bread baking. I love homemade bread...it loves me too! lol You don't talk too much, if you did, I imagine I'd rank right up there with you! lol Oh...btw...I do get some of the graphics that I post here from facebook.

Bobbiesue, Hope your day is going well and you are feeling better.

Harlene, good to hear the chiro doc is helping you. Blessings right back at cha.

Danky, nice to see you, please stop by again.

Joy, good to see you again and hope you are doing well. I agree that we need to pray for the people and situation in Ferguson, MO. It seems to be a ticking time bomb, once again.

It is so cold down here. This morning I was watching the weather. It was 10 degrees warmer in NY than down here. Something is wrong with that picture! lol We are running about 30 degrees below normal, we should be in the 60's this time of year. But NOOOOO....we are in the 30's and 40's. There goes that power bill. lol

Well, I should get up and do something, laundry, sweeping, something. It's past 1....is that an excuse to not do anything? lol Maybe I can claim the trip to awful mart just wore me out. Works for me.{#emotions_dlg.laugh}

Peace and blessings to all.

Hiya, Lucy! Always nice seeing you! I'm good, thanks -- just the usual creaks. Cold here, too!! Too early for the nonsense, but it's a good excuse to curl up with a good book by the fireplace.

Awful-Mart... Oh, yeah -- you deserve a break today, my friend! {#emotions_dlg.w00t}
