Hi @bathina,

Yep, I am doing really great, and thank you for asking. My wife however is going on week 3 post knee replacement surgery. She is making slow progress, but that is to be expected with a TKR surgery.

If I have sounded different I am not aware of it. Maybe this particular topic might be having me sound different, but my feelings about what I have been saying, have been the same for decades. Now ya gotta remember I am an OLDER man now.   =^..^=

Re: There has been another high school shooting

hckynut,

I apologize for responding so late to your post.

Now that I think about it and recall the many people in my office who carry, the attitude I described is not that common.  My colleagues were very serious-minded and respectful, generally speaking.

Perhaps the reason my thought is so focused on the attitude I described is that one of my favorite neighbors is like that (quick to anger and proud to carry) that I made such a broad statement.  Since I am retired and no longer see my former office friends, I'm left with recent memories of my cantankerous, gun-toting neighbor.  She isn't all that bad, but she can be a pill sometimes.

There was another colleague, an aviation safety inspector, who did have that sort of pride in carrying, though.  Part of me is frightened when I get a whiff of that attitude because I fear the person might do something dangerous and foolish, like shooting another over a trifling matter.

As I wrote on another post, on my mother's side I have many gun-owning uncles (now gone) and male first cousins who are gun owners and are model citizens and gun owners in every way.  I know them.  I love them.  I respect them and their choices.
