Looks can be deceiving. Women who looked like them fought for our right to vote. Many older looking grannies are stronger and willing to fight harder for women's rights than many younger looking grandmas.
I'm in the same age range as both pictures. In my head, I'm 30. I keep trying to function as if I'm 30 and am still successful most of the time. Just don't ask me to get on the roof. ![]()

I guess I really don't have a preference. The one's on the left remind me of my wonderful grandmother's and great-grandmother and the one's on the right remind me of my own dear mother. All strong lovely women!

Both my grandma's looked like the photo on the left, me I look like the right one, even though I am not a grandma I'm certainly old enough to be one. I agree that our grandma's didn't have the luxuries of todays' women so I don't see how the "looks" can be compared. Also if you look at most of us when we were in high school, we looked nothing like todays high school kids, JMO.

Different times, how about the 50's,60's, 70's.

It looks like examples of two extremes. How about somewhere in between. Not every grandma can look like Jane Fonda.

I'm the grandma on the right. My grandkids expect me to keep up with them and I do. The grannies on the left cleared the path for modern grannies of today. They fought so their grandchildren didn't have to have 13 kids and stay in unhappy and abusive marriages. All glory goes to them.

I am the grandma on the right, but still remember my wonderful grandma who in this picture would have been on the left.....styles were different then, notice none of them are wearing pants, and some of their work was harder too, they didn't have some of the labor saving things we have now like dishwashers etc.....

It looks to me like those on the left are much older than those on the right. Look at their faces.
Left 70's-80's.
Right 50's, early 60's.
It's much easier to stay in shape in our 50's and 60's than in 70's and 80's.
While those on the left are wearing typical granny dresses and shoes, what were 50 year olds wearing? For me, that's the key to making accurate comparisons
