Both cities were once shopping destinations when you didn't want to go to NYC. After that summer, people thought twice before venturing there.
It was 30 years before NJPAC and 40 years before The Prudential Center opened bringing people back to Newark.
I do not know if Plainfield ever recovered. I'm sure some of my fellow Jersey Girls will remember shopping at Teppers in downtown Plainfield.
@lulu2. My first full time job was in Newark. I would be getting married in early June of 1967, so I quit my job June 1st. Thank goodness I did.

Hi @truffle
Assuring you I made it through 1967 without peer pressure to do anything questionable while loving every minute of my experiences.
2017 is good, too, no poop on the street that I've seen ![]()

I would love to interview you and my list of questions would be all over the place. I am fascinated by that time and that place. This forum though probably would not make it possible so if you want to volunteer information of what is what like that would be great. @Noel7

@Noel7 Here are some questions I have, feel free to either answer or not answer.
What other city in the world is like San Francisco?
Did you or your family play a leadership role in your community?
Did you work during the Summer of Love '67 and if so what type of work?
Did you have a career later or during and if so what type?
What is it about your governor you like and dislike?
Thank you!
