Never thought I'd enjoy being home, but I do.  I've tried cooking recipes that were meant to be made months ago and now there's plenty of time to try them.  Today, rye bread was baked and it was delish slathered with butter.  Then a copy cat chicken soup recipe from Olive Garden, finally a from scratch Harvest Apple Walnut Cake. Delish.  Next will be a Sour cream Chocolate Chip Cake.

The shower stall even got cleaned thoroughly.  Outdoor furniture got cleaned off, too.

That's how I'm spending these days.  How about you?  What's been giving you joy?

@coffee drinker  I'm on my way!!  You can just leave some of those delicious sounding goodies on your front porch!  😋

I have been baking a lot lol, however I had to stop.  I was eating too muchSmiley Happy

I have discovered very interesting, funny, entertaining youtube channels.  I really enjoy tv so I am never bored.  I use to run around a lot, always going someplace. Now  I only go to grocery store when I have to. While im out  I wear a face covering and gloves.  I sanitize my hands when I go out and come back home.  I am getting use to being home.Smiley Happy

When home I wash my hands several times a day with antibacterial soap.  No one is in and out of my house.  Basically I am only touching things in my house.

Re: The Joys of Being Homebound

I am fine with my husband and me. I have always been someone who could entertain themselves and be alone even a lot.  I find it refreshing and a good time just to contemplate and think when I'm tired of reading.

I really don't have a problem with it, although I do miss seeing friends, but we still contact one another.  It is what it is.  If I don't make the most of it it is a waste.

@NicksmomESQ   Hand raised here, too. We're only 2 people here, so how much cleaning can I do? DH still at office, kids too far away to visit (just a drive by) and my few friends are getting down in the dumps. Except texts back and forth a few times a week, they'd prefer to not be bothered by anyone. I worry about them. I'm feeling quite isolated. Except for the very few "Hi & half smiles" I encounter walking the dog, the streets are empty. It looks like those Armageddon movies.

@Shanus  Cheer up - Sending You virtual hugs, too 🤗!  Remember, this won't last! You, your husband, kids, and even your dog are healthy! I just take one day at a time and try to keep busy...even if I end up just reading a book (the time passes quickly.) Have to admit though that it is really quiet in the neighborhood. I'd love to go get my supply of herbs and tomato plants at Home Depot, but naturally won't because of the stay at home policy. Thankfully, the grocery store has had a good selection of fresh produce, so tomatoes, lettuce, etc., I have on hand.

@Mimi 1883   Thanks for cheering me up. Lots of hugs back. I miss my schedule of seeing clients (jewelry and makeup). Just not used to having so much time on my hands. Usually very physically and mentally active and seems no matter how much I do, there's always many hours left until bedtime. I did over spend, but purchased my geraniums at the grocery store (probably twice as much as Lowe's or Depot) and planted those in front garden, porch pots and in window box under big kitchen window...added a bright splash of spring color.

@Shanus  You're welcome! Boy, your front yard and porch sounds beautiful! Flowers do so much for any areas. 🌺 Aside from fall, spring is my favorite - not too hot/humid, so flowers always look so beautiful and do so well. Yes, you probably paid a little extra from the grocery store, but, under the circumstances, so worth it.

This is from yesterday...Good news - Last night my husband was able to buy a ham for Easter, so yay! Bad news - it's so big, it's scary! 😂 13.6lbs! He said that was the Smallest one they had, too! I told my nextdoor neighbors (great people) not to look for or purchase a ham because I've got them covered. Quite frankly, I've got the whole neighborhood covered! 😆 Feast or famine it seems.

I feel the same way!  While I love having a clean, organized home, ceaning in of itself does not bring me joy.  I need to get out!

Re: The Joys of Being Homebound

I'm enjoying being at home. Working from home, 0 commute each day. Still start my day early, stumble to the kitchen for coffee and off to my desk, nobody running into my office with Daily Drama.

Pulled out some Taste of Home mags from the holidays and have the baking itch, too. It's 35 degrees here so turning on the oven is not an issue.

I have a couple of sewing projects to get to. Might research sewing machines online and get back into it.

I plan to inventory the freezer and pantry this weekend and make a shopping list from that.

Re: The Joys of Being Homebound

Well  I am not one who likes to cook or clean.  To me doing that would make being home all the time an ordeal.  I am going bonkers being at home all the time.  It's me, DH and our dog. I love my home and enjoy being there, but not 24/7. I want to get out and go somewhere even if it's just running errands.  I want to go back to work and get with people again. Meet friends for lunch, etc.

Thank goodness I like to read.  I have read so many books, my eyes are getting tired.  I have re-organized kitchen cabinets, dressers and closets, etc.  Changed out winter to summer clothes - hope to get to wear them soon.

Petty concerns I know as so many are having a really hard time through this pandemic.  We have plenty of food and paper goods, not worried financially and have remained healthy and I am grateful for that, but I want out!

Re: The Joys of Being Homebound

I am among those who enjoys it! The whole cause of it is terrible, but we just moved to our new house  and this mandatory staying home is wonderful. We are unpacked now, I organized all closets, kitchen, DH put all the shelves, pictures are up.

I cook, we eat, drink, walk finally more than usual. Watch silly shows, chat with friends and family, having video eating-drinking sessions with my brother in California. Not bad....

As long as everybody is healthy or getting better and the death rate is falling I am willing to stay home.

Re: The Joys of Being Homebound

I'm at home, but it is stressful. These forums have been a nice distraction -- connecting with interesting people all over the country.

I'm working from home via computer. Son's daycare closed and newly retired hubs and I watch 19 month old, active grandson. Did I mention he was active? Sometimes toddler just wants me and I oblige. I try to work early mornings, then later at night when house is quiet. Son is raising child by himself so we step in and help where we can. Family. Thankful son's work has only been reduced to 3/4 time - so thankful - but I'm tired. And right now he's saving $$ on childcare. I wouldn't take a dime from him - he offered. My workload is ebb and flow, depending on deadlines.

Will be thrilled to get back to work - hopefully June 1st. Campus will be online classes only. Great parking and quiet halls. Staff will be able to catch up on division work.

I'll be retiring Feb 1st. This is a great trial run. I'm imagining helping with grandchild care, in a pinch -- going to the gym, meeting with friends -- no hassle stores -- traveling -- being able to hug my flight attendant daughter living in Jersey City (Newark base) -- public library visits -- back to church to see friends -- salon visit to stylist, who is also a dear friend. Date night with my best friend. Playing pickleball and riding bicycles with friends. Free Friday summer concert on town square. To quote Julie Andrews -- "Oh, wouldn't it be loverly?"

All is well. Things could be so much worse and I'm grateful each day. Stay well, good people. I don't think I'll hug a lot of people or shake hands after this.
