The Heat in Europe!!

[ Edited ]

I just read the heat in Europe is unreal right now . Up to 110 degrees. The article said even paved roads are melting.

There was a pic of the tires on a bike melted. YIKES!!

I feel it is too hot here when its in the 80s! Smiley Surprised  I need to not complain about it!

Every year my daughter's in-laws take one or two of their teenage grandchildren anywhere in the world they want to go for up to 3 weeks.

Last year they took 3 teenage grandchildren all over Europe.

This year they've taken my 13 year old grandson to Japan with them.

The heat doesn't bother her mother-in-law (she's about 4'10" and weights under 100 lbs.  Nor does it bother my grandson... However, her father-in-law is dying from the heat.  He's 6'4" and weighs around 220 lbs.

My guess he'll find shade (like he often does) and tells them "You go...I'll catch up later".  Ha!

I don't mind the hot weather but I go crazy with any (and I mean any) humidity.  I hate humidity...it makes me be a big "B" (capital B).

Today in Northern Va it's supposed to be in the mid 90's.  I just checked my Blink front door camera and with the sun beating down on it .....it says temp is 113!!!!  The outside (one of them) Blink camera says 96 degrees.

I could never enjoy being in that type of weather while vacationing.  I would be wiped out and without any energy to sight see and at Europe that is what you do for the most part.

I hate the heat and when coupled with the humidity I long for a cool area .  I consider this type of weather unhealthy especially for the elderly and those with respiratory illnesses.  I have absolutely no desire to sit out in the sun, sunscreen or not.  Moving around is a effort.

I have always been a cool weather person, not snow and ice, just cool refreshing healthy air.  As people age they sometimes only want hot weather, not me, I still prefer cooler temperatures.   This is how I feel and my opinion, to those who love heat and humidity enjoy !!!!

Re: The Heat in Europe!!

[ Edited ]

@Annabellethecat66   Horrid for the people in Europe.  I saw some of the pictures on the news this morning.  I have the DC NBC local news on now and they are reporting the temperature is 91 degrees currently here in Washington.  And it is supposed to continue in this vein for several days to create an official heat wave.

My living room faces west so at this time of the day the sun comes pouring in.  No complaints from me, though, since I love spring and especially love the summer.  I'm fortunate that I love heat and sunshine and humidity doesn't faze me.  I am the depressed grumpy "B" in the wintertime.

Now snow, ice, and sleet--that's another story for me.  Never feel warm enough no matter how many layers I pile on.

Your grands are so fortunate to enjoy such wonderful foreign trips.

Stay safe and cool.  I always enjoy your posts, by the way.

@aroc3435  Even when I was skinny (I'm a chub) the weather (hot) has always bothered me.

I don't have many wrinkles (at 72) and I think a lot of it is because I stayed out of the sun since I was young.

It's (like I said) humidity that drives me crazy!

My late husband and oldest daughter are total opposite.  They both hate cold weather.  My daughter's husband is constantly telling her to turn up the air conditioning.  I start sweating when I visit her!

I don't have a thyroid so I know that is some of it...doesn't help.

I haven't been following this all that closely but did see something briefly about it smoldering in Spain. I wonder what it will be like in England next week? Wimbledon will be starting and it could certainly take a toll on the tennis players there. I can't imagine competing as they do in such high heat and humidity!

Hello, global warming.  Yes, they are experiencing a heat wave and it won't be the last.  It's worse for them because air conditioning is not as prevelant in Europe as it is here.  We get through our 100 plus heat waves (hoping we don't actually have any this summer) and they'll get through theirs.  I feel sorry for the tourists who have to do all that walking, standing in lines and sightseeing in sweltering weather.
