ron and jane

A photo of Ronald Reagan with Jane Wyman.  Their daughter Maureen was smart and funny -- and succumbed to melanoma in 2001.  She looked very much like her mother.  And she was very close to her father and stepmother, Nancy.

From all I have read about the Reagan's...... I thought some might like to know that, eventually, Nancy Reagan and President Reagan's children from his previous marriage, became close and were probably closer to her than her own children.  I find that comforting.

Michael Reagan's autobiography made if perfectly clear that he was treated like dirt by his father and step mother.

His own father spoke at his high school graduation and the  DIDN'T recognize him after the event!!!

I think he did everything he could to get  in the good graces of Ron & Nancy as an adult. Ultimately, he chose not to attend Nancy's funeral.

His natural daughter Maureen died shortly after the President was declared terminally ill - he never knew she had died.  Michael, his adopted son with first wife - Jane Wyman (spelling) may still have a radio show in Cal.  Nancy never treated him well - at the President's funeral she had Michael & family sit in the back of the room against the wall.

Michael's autobiography is haunting. He endured a lifetime of psychological abuse from his father and his wife.

He chose to spend his working life trying to get close to them. It ultimately failed. The way he was treated at his father's funeral was just one slight after a lifetime of bad treatment.

I admire the love between the spouses, but it shut out their children and all experienced degrees of hurt over it. I thought it was telling that neither Ron Jr. nor Patti ever had children of their own.

I wonder if Nancy Reagan read Bill O,Reilly,s book KILLING REAGAN.  Interesting book, and goes into how she was a help to him, the children, possevive, jealous , etc.  One of the first ladies at the funeral she did not like.

I heard that they and others close to them thought his book was riddled with untruths and salacious statements.

i believe Mrs Reagan was closest to Maureen -  but she was said to have drawn closer to Michael in her later years.   he was photographed here in Los Angeles shortly after her death with the 2 other children.  Ron Jr  was not part of the family memorial earlier in the week before moving her body to the Library.  interestingly none of the children is on the Board of the Library -  at least, so far.  only the members of the family understand their family dynamic.  for now may Mrs Reagan rest in peace.

Ron Jr. didn't attend the religious ceremony because he is an atheist.

Michael wishes that she was closer to her - but just read his story - it was a sad tale of emotional abuse.

I still find it odd that he immediately criticized other people for not attending her funeral - then left town and missed it himself.

Over the years I had read that the Reagan's great love for only each other made their children feel excluded or left out.  I always thought that was so sad.

Ronald Reagan Sr. adorec Jane Wyman but she didn't feel she was ready to just sit back and be exclusively a wife and mother.  She wanted her career.

Ronald Reagan Sr. did love and care for Nancy.  Children, well, you get all sorts in this life.  Even in my uneventful family, everyone is different and not all get along.

While in office as Governor of CaliforniaMr. Reagan made the last Friday in September, NATIVE AMERICAN Remembrance Day.  Native Americans could request the day off from employers though most employers never honored the decree.

This may be out there but - Mr. and Mrs. Reagan knew there were threats to the USA and the people of the planet.  He did do things to promote technology for defense to defend AMERICA, My AMERICA, MY HOMELAND, against hostile forces.

He also included into his requests defense against hostile extra-terrestrial forces.  Whether well known or not, he and Nancy were abducted one night and Mr. Reagan didn't like it and it made him very angry that we were going to have to deal with these inter-galactic low-life.  He knew along with other heads of state that We Are Not Alone.  Nancy stood by him and during their marriage to one another, no scandals of extra-marital affairs, etc.
