The Boy Scouts Food Drive?...

Hi, I am wondering if anyone else here participated in the Boy Scouts food drive today, and if so did they pick up your donation of non perishable food?

We put a pretty big bag of "new" non perishable foods out at 5 AM this morning along with the Boy Scouts card attached to it, and no one ever came to get our donation. This is the 2nd time we tried to participate and no one picked up the food. (It is dusk here now so DH went out to bring the food back in before critters get the food).

Now, I sent an email that was on the card to put out asking nicely why this is. See if they answer and what they say, maybe they're short handed? But 2 years in a row now?

(We give regularly to the food bank and when the postal service has their collection, so we do help, but just thought we would help with this drive too).

Re: The Boy Scouts Food Drive?...

The scouts put the empty bag on the door handle today.  They will pick it up next Saturday, Nov. 21.  (at least that's what the blue bag they left had stamped on it)

I filled my bag today and will put it out early next Saturday morning.  I assume it is a national drive, so it should be the same for everyone.

Re: The Boy Scouts Food Drive?...

Someone  did pick up my bag , however I've put out food for the mailman and it was never

picked up. I guess it hit or miss. Maybe you can take it to the food bank .

My food pick up is next week also.  I've never had the boy scouts fail to pick up their bags.  I have, however, had the mailman not pick it up just like Indoor kitty said.  It's frustrating when you try to do your part and do something helpful and then it falls through.  I'm sorry this happened to you.

The bag of food we put on our porch for the scouts was picked up early this morning. It is frustrating when you are trying to help with a food donation and they miss the pickup. Let us know if they reply to your email, it will be interesting to see what they have to say.

Hmm that's strange (and unfortunate).  Ours was last week... they asked us to have the bags out on our steps by 7a.  They came by maybe around 9a (suuuch cuties).  Maybe you'd be interested in bringing it by a local food bank?  I'm sure they'd be very appreciative of the kind gesture.  But yeah, sounds like someone's dropping the ball over there.  I'd be interested to know what's going on too.

ETA:  Whoops, I just read that you do have a local food bank to which you can donate.

Boy oh Boy, funny you should mention this.  I shopped with great care last Sunday and loaded up a bag of groceries.  I put the bag on my porch, honestly an hour later than the 9 am request time.  That said, one of my neighbors near to me also had a bag out, but earlier.  I went to see Spectre, the 1:45 pm show and the bag was still on my neighbor's front porch and my front porch.  I came home from the movie and there's the grocery bag.  I brought the bag into the house and will take it to work on Monday as I'm pretty sure my employer is having a food drive.

I didn't even know about it.  Maybe it's because our community prohibits solicitation.

Re: The Boy Scouts Food Drive?...

Sorry to say I didn't know about it, but I live in a very secure apt bldg & they may not have left any notices here.

We are currently collecting non-perishable food for needy veterans & have 2 very large collection boxes in the lobby.  Since our food drive runs through 11/20, I think they're going to have to get another box because the 2nd one they put out is almost overflowing.

Our local scouts collect in front of the grocery store, I never knew they collected at houses.
