We are invited over to friends house for thanksgiving. we have been asked to bring apple pie.

The 26th (thanksgiving day weekend) we are doing our own thanksgiving day meal. We purchased a frozen turkey b rest which we will slow cook for many hours and get a couple potatoes for baking, and maybe making up small amount of stuffing. dh and i can't eat much any longer (medically problems we both have). So we will make what we can eat and enjoy our own small holiday.

hihi {{{ Mink Bunny }}}!!!!!

so very extremely good to see you!  i apologize for starting to reply to people and then wandering off.  i get extraordinarily tired sometimes and all i can do is lie down.  don't even have the concentration to listen to (let alone watch) tv.

but that's all beside the point.  congratulations on the addition of Paisley Mae -- what a pretty and unusual name.  i hope she enjoys her first big affair!

when you say traditional dinner, what does that include?  do you serve sit-down or buffet?  i'm picturing a house full of people, kids running around, dogs barking, too much food, and lots and lots of love.  yes?

happy, happy holiday to you and yours!  i hope that you'll stick around a bit more.  i miss you.

hihi CARMIE --

yes, actually, i am heading toward vegan.  mostly vegetarian, though.  at least for this year.

perhaps your vegan guest could bring a dish to share.  that way she could be sure to have something to eat.  i wouldn't be 100% positive that the salad dressing is safe, or the bread.

or send  her my way!  i know the vegducken will be enough to feed a crowd, even before i get to the sides.

however it ends up, i wish you all a  happy and healthy holiday.

hihi Whatnow --

i'll fill you all in on last year once i've gotten caught up here.  fair?  Smiley Happy

you're very kind about my menu.  thanks.  i do have a friend coming over a day or two after thanksgiving.  it's a family tradition that we call "second thanksgiving", when we get to eat all the leftovers.  feel free to come join us!

i hope you and your husband enjoy the day and the turkey and whatever else you cook up!  happy thanksgiving!

hihi ECBG --

not sure if your suggestions were for me or CARMIE???

i'm thinking i'll do a vegan green bean casserole, actually!  trying to convince myself not to make stuffing this year.  we'll see if that works!

happy Thanksgiving to you!

hihi Trinity11 --

thank you so much for  your extravagantly kind welcome.  i really do appreciate it when someone says they're happy to see me.

last year is a bit of an unpleasant blur still.  not a health problem, fortunately.

looking forward to cooking something!  do you cook?  anything special planned for Thanksgiving?

hope you have a great holiday, however you choose to spend it.

hihi sophiesophers!

welcome to the boards.  there's a great group of (mostly) women here who post regularly.  i hope you enjoy it here.

the broccoli and wild rice casserole is from Ree Drummond, the Pioneer Woman.  i got it from her website.  i will admit to having done some tinkering, but now i look forward to having an excuse to make it.

Happy Thanksgiving to you, too!

nice that friends invited you for thursday.  will you bake or buy the pie?  i don't have much luck with pie crusts. fillings, yummy.  crust ... problematic.

i'm glad you're looking forward to Thanksgiving with your husband.  sounds lovely and cozy.  happy happy!
