Yes...never forget. My dad was 15 at the time. Two years later, he enlisted in the Navy  and served in WWII in the Pacific theatre and Korean Conflict. Last weekend, he was telling us more stories. He's 95 and has the memory of an elephant...events, names of comrades, shipmates, places, etc. Unreal. I have so much respect and gratitude and love for him.

Gratitude to all who have served🙏

@bmorechick - How wonderful your dad has those stories! You should record him when he tells them!

Re: Thank You Pearl Harbor Veterans

My Dad's cousin was killed at Pearl Harbor. He was one of the guys that would flag the pilots to take off and land.

My Dad enlisted two days later. He had to withdraw from college before he enlisted. That is why it took two days.

Re: Thank You Pearl Harbor Veterans

Going to the Arizona Memorial was profound.  As soon as we got into the small tour boat, everyone got silent.  All the way over, while there and all the way back, you could hear a pin drop, literally.

My dad turned 14 a few days before Pearl Harbor was attacked.  He couldn't wait until he was old enough to sign up. He told me every US citizen wanted to help in any way possible. It was a scary time but must have been an amazing feeling for our entire nation to be united toward that common goal and willing to sacrifice to achieve it.  Just thinking about it makes me proud.
