Usually people do NOT worry about puncuation... I text with many people. I use voice-to-text activation on my phone for the most part ..and if you say period...new sentence..paragragh..capital it will do it.

That said - nobody else does..they use slang. I get it...and understand it..but don't use it in return..

prolly, UR, ty, yw..stuff like that.. lol

This! I love this feature on my iphone. I'm an excellent typist when furnished with a proper keyboard, but this whole "typing with thumbs" thing is never going to work for me.

And I suppose I've been editing and proofing documents for too long, but spelling and punctuation errors are like nails on a chalkboard to me. Not that I'm bulletproof, but I always make an effort!

One more thought -- I don't understand why people can take the time to type out an email or a text, but can't take the time to pick up the phone and have an actual "ear to ear" conversation with another person!

You can hardly call someone and say a sentence or two and hang up so a phone call will take a lot longer than a text or email. Added to that, the person on the receiving end can read the text or email when they have the time; they won't be interrupted by a call at an inconvenient time.

I use proper spelling and punctuate when I text.
