Have any of you seen the American Express commercial for Small Business Saturday? It has the Simon and Garfunkel song "America" playing on it. I first heard the song, which I love, and looked up and saw the commercial. I've seen it a few times over the last few days. I think it was so well done and you just can't beat Simon and Garfunkel in their prime.

My tribute to small business Saturday was lunch at a small local restaurant.

I remember being stretched out on my bed listening to Sounds of Silence and Scarborough Fair over and over on one of my first 8-tracks

I didn't venture out today, but i regularly patronize local businesses.

Most recently, our town's hole in the wall vacuum repair and purchase, their dog is so cute and greets you in the shop!

And the lamp guy! His shop is a wonderland of shades and lamps from new/modern/art glass, and going all the way back to Victorian! Wow! He has so many beautiful pieces that i felt a bit intimidated bringing my cheap old lamp in for repair. He treated me swell and it turns out we had a lot to talk about from my collecting days back in the seventies!

Oh, and when i got my first guitar, i played and sang Sounds of Silence over and over and over.. I thought i sounded really good! (I also thought i was Melanie and Joni Mitchell! )

I went to a small store & bought a Scentsy burner for half off. That's my contribution.
