I just received a text message from someone pretending to be from UPS claiming "my package has been "hold" at the warehouse" and they needed a new delivery address. I ignored it.
I know this is fake but I wonder if the UPS system was "hacked" (I don't think it is them because how would they have my cell phone number) or was the QVC shipping information hacked.
I do have several packages coming from them, 2 are out for delivery two transferred to USPS from UPS.
What do you think?

Hi I've been getting similar text messages. I don't know if there system has been hacked or not. Like you I ignore them.
It's so crazy that these scammers are just everywhere!

they probably generate random numbers
IOs lets you "delete and report"

How would UPS even know your phone number to text you? It's just another scam targeting you via your phone number instead of your E-mail. Been going on for years. UPS also shouldn't know your E-mail address unless you've given it to them.

Scammers are increasingly more tech savvy and sophisticated in their scams. Your telephone number is randomly done by their bot computer(s), and they send those messages probably by the hundreds of thousands if not millions. If only a handful of people "bite" and the scammers are able to steal their info, it makes it worth their while.
The scam has been going around for a long time. Delete the text, report it, and under no circumstances do you respond to the text and engage with the individual.

I got one back in Feb. of this year for the first time. They are scammers.

I have heard of that scam and they say they need 30 cents more for postage and get your cc info and I'm sure deduct a lot more than 30 cents. I would block all those numbers.

I've had countless spam UPS texts and e-mails. Thankfully, I haven't been expecting a UPS delivery, but even if I was, I have never received contact from them about any delivery and would just delete it.
I doubt they were hacked. Some boiler room has phone numbers and e-mail addresses and they're just trying everything that most people use, or are familiar with enough to --- click a reply.
It's sickening that daily we have to spend so much time policing all of our personal business. I've had so many things go south, including my bank just being hacked, that I need a secretary.
Edited to add: I get them from FedEx, too.

🕵 UPS has a message on their website regarding scams targeting their company.
I occasionally get these messages via email, appearing in my junk file, and just delete them without ever opening.

It's probably a scam. UPS does not send out texts as far as I know. Just go to UPS to enter your tracking number so you can see what it shows.
